Vandals spray-paint hate graffiti at Jewish Community Center

Anti-Semitic graffiti has been found scrawled on a Jewish Community Center prompting a hate crime investigation by county police.

The damage was discovered about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday morning and reported to police.

County police spokesman Cpl. Trinidad Navarro said an employee of the community center found the anti-Semitic remarks and symbols sprayed in neon green and white paint on the rear of the picnic pavilion at 101 Garden of Eden Road in Talleyville.

The symbols included swastikas.

If the vandal turned out to be one of the members of that community center. I'm not sying that this is the case in this instance, but I do know that that is all too often the case. It will be interesting to see this develop.

11. I heard a similar theory from a historian I used to know.

It's a widely held belief in certain circles that most cases of vandalism and desecration of Jewish sites is done by Jews themselves. The belief that this is "all too often" the case, and the immediate suspicion of an inside job, serves those who paint Jews as deceptive manipulators very well. It also helps support a belief that anti-Jewish sentiment is either a thing of the past, is harmless, or is rational and well-founded. If you hold this opinion based on what you have read, you may wish to investigate your sources to be sure that the sources are not ideologically biased toward beliefs with which you as a good liberal would rather not be associated.

It has happened more than once, to be fair, that there has been an "inside job" of a fake hate crime. Those cases have been perpetrated by some seriously unstable people, and without the support of the communities who are victims of the vandalism, desecration, or attack. However, it isn't usually the case.

9. A mosque in my city (Edmonton Canada) had pig parts strewn around last night.

A while ago a Unitarian Church was vandalized, as was a synagogue. Equal opportunity hate, I guess.

the synagogue was vandalized by a Jew, the mosque by a Muslim, and the church by a disgruntled Unitarian. (I'm trying to picture a disgruntled Unitarian - "I'm pissed off at.........everything!")
