Peace mom Sheehan arrested in Washington

By DERRILL HOLLY, Associated Press Writer
25 minutes ago

Activist Cindy Sheehan was arrested Wednesday as she led about 50 protesters to a White House gate Wednesday to deliver anti-war petitions she said were signed by 80,000 Americans.

The Berkeley, Calif., woman, whose son was killed in Iraq more than two years ago, was arrested along with three other women on the sidewalk outside the White House gate, said Lt. Scott Fear, a U.S. Park Police spokesman. They were charged with interfering with a government function, he said.

1. So that's what all that commotion was...
...as Suzanne Malveaux was doing a live hit from in front of the White House a couple hours or so ago. And she never mentioned it, even though you could hear chanting and such very clearly.

Someone mentioned that there were protestors on one of the stand ups, on MSNBC...didn't know it was her though.

8. No, the function of:
trying to keep the American people in the dark about the criminal war that Dubya lied us into.

The election results showed, however, that that particular government function is no longer functioning so well.

4. Cindy, America got the point.
November 7th proved it. Now that you've raised awareness, will you please quit getting yourself arrested? One of these days, you'll be behind bars for good, and that's not going to help anybody. :(

11. Is it somehow illegal to deliver a petition to the president?
There's no way in hell she should have been arrested.

12. In Japan during the time of the Shogunate,
a peasant who attempted to petition anyone in power would be executed. But our Constitution says that we have the right to petition our government for redress.

5. This should be a reminder we still live in a damm near POLICE STATE
And we need to get Madam Speaker Nancy to not only drain the moat but restore our constitutional rights and freedoms.

How about we start a new forum here on DU to put all the ideas of what needs to be desperately fixed like the freedom to march and protest in front of the white house!

to slap them all. I heard Candy Crowley last nite on CNN saying how the dems still have to kiss-up to the republicans if they want any changes in Iraq....because her bush is the commander in chief. I despise them all...except Keith.

13. She got it right though..
Rummy WAS offered up as the sacrificial lamb.

Poppy distrusts Rumsfeld, always has, never liked him.
Rumsfeld is Cheney's man. Rumsfeld's resignation was a
show of good faith nw Baker will step in and start
running the show.

Poppy has effectively castrated Cheney's power and set
him off to the sidelines. Cheney had better cooperate
or the consequences could be nasty.

28. Can you imagine how PO'd Poppy is not because of Baby but..
because he's swallowed his spit so many times at Chaney's arrogance,
literally, flipping him the bird at any of his suggested war plan
strategies. Cheney is in it for the quick buck. Where Poppy knows they
could have milked the War Cow into perpetuity.

I Loveit when they infight! :loveya:

25. It is still business as usual for the fascists building police state America
Make no mistake about it, the fight is merely starting, there is still much to do and no assurance anywhere that the ultimate outcome will be a win for democracy and the right of the people to assure the control of their country and defend their embattled and endangered Constitution.
