Iraq Hopes U.S. Vote Means More Security
While U.S. troops have complained Rumsfeld sought to control Iraq with too few troops, many Iraqis say the U.S.-led forces failed to offer day-to-day protection against insurgent and militia attacks.

A Shiite woman, who identified herself as Um Assad, mother of Assad, probably spoke for most Iraqis when questioned about the election as she shopped near the National Museum. Security was uppermost in nearly everyone's mind.

"We hope that they (the Democrats) will be kind to our people and understand our problems," she said.

Ala Abid Ali, a Shiite among the group, was of the same mind: "As far as I'm concerned I hope that the Democrats will work for providing security for the Iraqi people, who are suffering greatly."

2. I feel so terrible for these people
The security situation is so awful that they can't go outside without worrying about some suicide bomber .

Whatever people there thought of Saddam, at least they weren't living in absolute chaos, and a civil war.

3. Well since the Republicans claim Baghdad is like Manhattan, I say
we send over our surplus Republican politicians to help reign in the insurgency there. I mean in addition to the 6 senators, 27-30 house members, and 1 secretary of defense, we can also contribute the architects of New Yorks resurgence. We need to send Rudy Guliani and Bernie Kerik asap. If anyone can straighten out Iraq, these guys and their now jobless friends can get it done.
