caliber of journalist these days. I loved his demeanor. And I always thought he was a fine-looking man, too.

A very sad day. RIP, Ed. You did us proud.

should have made him anchor instead of katie coffe klatch.

of course wiyh him in that seat it would have been more obvious that they weren't doing news.

Ed Bradley of '60 Minutes' Dies

By Howard Kurtz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, November 9, 2006; 12:08 PM

Ed Bradley, the veteran "60 Minutes" correspondent and one of the pioneering black journalists of his generation, died today. He was 65.

Bradley, who had won 19 Emmy awards, covered an incredible array of stories after joining the CBS newsmagazine in 1981, from brain cancer to sexual abuse in the Catholic Church to the high school shootings at Columbine.

13. Damn
I remember when I was chid in western PA he was on KDKA Pittsburgh.

I still laugh when I think of some news bimbo asking if a raccoon was O.K. after
it short circuited the electrical system for 1/2 of Pittsburgh. A very
young Ed just rolled his eyes.

R.I.P. Ed you were one of the good ones.

16. And his 90 + year old Mom in Dayton OH loved Tiger Woods
Ed got Tiger to send his mom a Picture and give her a call.

"Can't talk Eddy, my Tiger is on T.V." She would tell him if he called
and Woods was on T.V.. BTW she did not golf too.

Ed loved that story.

44. Ed Bradley: "The Sixty-Minute Man"
As well as being an outstanding journalist, Ed was also a New Orleans fanatic. He frequently appeared on stage at Jazz Fest, where he was known as "The Sixty-Minute Man". He also hosted the "Big Apple to the Big Easy" benefit at Madison Square Garden. One can only imagine what he really thought about the (lack of) government response to Katrina...

Oddly, the Times-Picayune has yet to put up anything except brief AP wire stories. This definitely counts as local news down there. :(

But also "ear candy" because I loved the way he conducted his interviews. I enjoyed listening to him. Never condescending, but poised and genuine in his approach.

Having grown up watching 60 Minutes, it's like losing a member of the family who came over to talk every Sunday.
