George Allen concedes live on CNN! Dem's control Senate!
Senator John Warner (R-VA) introduced him at 3:08pm EST, spewed a few compliments and nostolgic memories while George Allen wiped a tear from this eye, promised a bright political future for Allen, then stepped aside.

Allen thanked God for his wife, what he called his great blessing, then his three children ('education matters'), then his mom who gave him live, then Senator Warner, then his office staff, then his campaign staff, and the Virginia Republican Party.

He respects the decision of the Virgina voters and called Jim Webb to congradulate him!

WE GOT IT!

It is evident that George Allen wears a rug....and most of all, that he is hiding that fact. He is scared of being bald, which makes him a GIRLEY MAN.

63. They should all get a sense of our relief
At what point in the last 10 years (beginning with the Clinton impeachment) did the thugs make an effort to understand us?
We've been accused of treason and immorality among other things. We were denied a proper recount of the 2000 election, and have been dealt serious violations of our right to free speech. They were never treated that way throughout the Clinton administration.

I don't want them to suffer the same oppression we've had to bear the last 10 years; but I DO want them to understand what we've been through so that NO administration treats Americans this way in the future.

...how this would have all fallen out if instead of trying to spin, deny, waffle, then blame the lib'rul media, he'd just upped and said:

"I was behaving like a jerk and that remark was totally uncalled for. I apologize for my bad behavior."

...and then just STFU and left it at that. No blaming alcoholism, or child abuse...just standing up like an adult and admitting they were at fault.

Wanna bet the whole thing might have ended right then and there?

19. Did Allen Concede to Hide Irregularities In His Favor?
This may be a case of an attempt at election theft that wasn't sufficient to steal victory. Still too early to tell, but there are strong early indications:

Press release:
November 9, 2006
Washington, DC
Ilene Proctor PR
(310) 271-5857

VOTE COUNTING IRREGULARTIES DISCOVERED IN VIRGINIA SENATE RACE
SENATOR ALLEN SHOULD NOT CONCEDE

On November 7th, investigators for the election integrity organization
VelvetRevolution.us were contacted by a poll watcher from Henrico County
Virginia, Maybeury Precinct #0408, who reported that the vote tallies were
wrong at the end of election-day - 808 for Allen and 51 for Webb for a total
of 876. The congressional race between Reublican Cantor and Democrat Nachman
also showed 808 to 51. The Virginia Board of Elections website also showed
that the down ballot marriage amendment in the same precinct was vastly
different -- 678 to 681 for a total of 1359. No other precincts in Henrico
County showed the type of skewing shown in precinct 0408. The poll watcher
said that she personally talked to over three hundred people who voted for
Webb.

This morning, VR investigators contacted the United States Attorney and FBI
in Richmond as well as the head of the Board of Elections to complain about
the results in this race. At approximately 12:30 pm today, the BOE website
suddenly changed the results in precinct 0408 to 808 for Allen and 551 for
Webb for a total of 1356. The congressional race was also changed to 904
for Cantor and 432 for Nachman. The county results and the state results
were also changed.

VR believes that this anomaly must be investigated because either the
machines reported the wrong results or outright fraud occurred. VR has
noticed other anomalies across Virginia that call into questions the results
of the vote. In light of this, VR believes that Senator Allen should not
concede until all the votes are properly counted and an investigation occurs
into the voting machines.

VR has a $500,000 reward for information about election fraud, and tip lines
for whistleblowers - 1-888-VOTETIP and tips@velvetrevolution.us. These are
part of VR's Election Protection Strike Force.

Yeah right! Three months ago, Allen was going to cake-walk to an easy re-election, and he blew it with his big mouth. He has about as much of a political future as Mark Foley.

If Allen had conducted himself during the past few months with the class that he exhibited in today's speech, he would have almost certainly been re-elected. However, during the course of a strenuous campaign, one's true colors invariable surface. Allen did himself in, and the final impact of his conduct on the campaign trail is truly remarkable.

43. My only regret
Is that Ford couldn't pull out a win in Tennessee. If he had, Lieberman could've been stripped of seniority and kicked to the curb to be a Party of One.

87. Nuttin'.
But it has a Democratic Governor and a sick Republican Senator (who may do very well with modern treatments so there's no reason to expect him to leave office) which might devalue little Joe's hold over us just by the mere possibility.

93. Ahh
So if the worst does happen, the governor may get to name a replacement? Well, if it happens it happens, but I'm certainly not going to count on it.

When the FReepers do a death watch for liberal Supreme Court justices, it makes me want to slug the lot of em right through the monitor.

104. Don't count on it at all.
My 87 year old uncle has leukemia and he's still kicking. He's had it over 30 years.

But just the fact of the POSSIBILITY lowers Lieberman's value. If he gets drunk on his supposed power over us, it looms over him that we could find him unnecessary within a month. Any month.

That weasel would not have let the final vote count go unchallenged and given that flowery concession speech if he wasn't setting himself up for some future political office (e.g. Governorship or the Presidency).

What's disturbing is that with all of Allen's antics, this was still such a close race. I can't believe so many people still supported that piece of trash, even in the south.

I'm glad.

I don't know what he's done personally that's bad so I'll say so far he's made a good impression on me, even though he's a repub. The last time repubs made a good impression on me was when the two in South Dakota really stood up and fought the legislature there against banning abortions and the dem woman senator spoke for banning them. Some repubs aren't that bad. Not all dems are good. Over all I have to question anyones integrity that would be a repub and support that overall party agenda though.

101. "I don't know what he's done personally that's bad"
Let me give you the short list:

1. Publically uttered a racial slur against a young man of Indian descent during a campaign appearance.

3. Allowed his goons to assault a person trying to ask a question at another campaign event.

2. Kept a noose in his office.

3. Used the "n" word about as often as a rock star utters the "f" word.

4. Cut off a deer's head and stuffed it in the mailbox of a family he believed to be black.

5. Named his son for the founder of the KKK.

6. According to his sister, routinely intimidated and committed violence upon his siblings.

7. Wore the Confederate flag on his person and displayed it on his car and in his home - though he has no Southern roots and grew up in a privileged environment in California.

8. Spraypainted racist graffiti on the walls of his school as a teenager trying to incite racial violence.

9. Repeatedly lied when asked about all of the above.

Allen is a scumbag among scumbags, and the Senate will be much improved without him.

The heat is really going to be on the Democratic party now.

Every little mis-step, every minor ethical problem, every time Pelosi or someone else stumbles on a question you'll hear the right wing screech machine start yowling about how fucked up we are.

We may have won, but, the battle's only beginning.

They will stop at nothing to destroy us.

84. An extraordinary day.
An end to a one party free-for-all, where it seemed that being criminal was acceptable, indeed encouraged by the powers within and above. I have seen corrupt politicians more often than I care to admit, but this crew is unprecedented in scope and strength. A machine.

And we got' em. Not by the force of anyThing but TELLING IT LIKE IT IS.

I must say that I feel very proud Webb won giving us control of the Senate. I remember in the 90's when the rethuglicans took over Congress. They bothered The Big Dog constantly. Now I'm ready to see the reverse happen. Please save any photos you have of dubya taken within the past month. In 2 years from now he will look about 60 years older!
