Condoleeza Rice: Democratic victory will not change our policies in Iraq.
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 11:47 PM by Poll_Blind
From Ha'aretz Flash News:
06:06 Condoleeza Rice: Democratic victory will not change our policies in Iraq. (AP)

(This only exists, afaik, at Ha'aretz. A search of Google News doesn't turn up anything yet.)

There was an interesting back and forth (the numbers are timestamps):
01:17 Olmert warns against a hasty U.S. withdrawal from Iraq (Haaretz)
06:06 Condoleeza Rice: Democratic victory will not change our policies in Iraq. (AP)

Condi, sweetie, I don't think you can give assurances like that anymore. Your range of control has shrunk considerably in the last few days. Now, Bush comes on the tele and gets all sweet on working together with the Dems. I almost had my hand in his for a big kumbaya circle when I realized this dick and his buddies (some of them actually named 'Dick' as if their parents suspected it'd make referencing them easier later in life) are responsible for a staggering number of crimes against Liberty and The Constitution.

  No kumbaya for you!

So this is the first international exchange I've seen on U.S. policy (in this case, Iraq) since the Democrats won and it's not so compliant. "Democratic victory will not change our policies in Iraq." Hrm. I think she's talking out her ass. Of course, Democrats have to start proving her wrong and its a little too soon to expect much. But I hope they do.

I hope before the new year there's some movement to help us get out of this frightful, murderous mess. They administration is betting they can still call the shots.

I'm not so sure that's a good bet, but they're known for throwing good money after bad, anyway.

39. See? This is why she should have been fired years ago.
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 11:56 AM by PerceptionManagement
She is just too f****** stupid to breath. There is not a single cognizant soul on the planet that could possible believe that policy won't change. It just defies credulity. When she yaps like that, like some sort of yippy dog, that people really do begin to fear that their government is being run by absolute fools. She is not helping, nor has she ever helped the republican party or America with those insipid, clueless, disingenuous utterances.

Her criminal ignorance and criminal incompetence should have led many to conclude that the biggest terrorist threat to the US existed mostly in the White House when Rice let loose with this insanne whopper:

"Bin Laden Determined to Strike inside US", and the entire memo focused on the possibility of terrorist attacks inside the US. In testimony before the 9/11 Commission, Condoleezza Rice, National Security Advisor to President Bush, stated to the commission that she and Bush considered the August 6th PDB as just an "historical document" and stated that it was not considered a "warning."

It's breath taking. And it's unforgivable that republicans would tolerate her.

8. I think maybe she doesn't understand how an opposition held senate might work
This won't be anything like when McCain and Specter pretended to be mad at you Condi. This is subpoenas and hearings with Dems setting the rules for questions and lenghth and venue.

You can't spend a dime without Congress' approval either Condi.

You boss also has other things he wants to get done, and if they want to see even the light of day for debate, he will have to work with us, Condi.

I will enjoy watching her learn about checks and balances.

16. Bush is said to have turned to his most trusted advisers in the
last few weeks... the women that love him. That would Laura, Condi, Karen, and Harriet.

They have replaced Rummy and Darth as the powers behind the throne.

In some ways, we could be entering a period where Bush becomes reclusive and bitter and even more stubborn then he has been to date.

31. BBC - Analysis: Iraq debate transformed
Unease over the situation in Iraq has been building for some time. But in the run-up to US elections it exploded into public view.

James Baker, the former US Secretary of State, began to drop hints as to what his high-powered Iraq Study Group might recommend once the elections were out of the way.

He implied that stability was a more realistic goal than democracy. He apparently favours co-opting Iraq's neighbours - including Iran and Syria.
