(Funny, this is the ONLY online Newspaper that I was able to find that is carrying the AP story! I can't even find it at the AP Website! And check out the link below to CNN.com, look where they stopped the count!)

Burns, Collins wait for final vote counts, possible recounts

RUSS BYNUM
Associated Press

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Republican challengers to two Democratic congressmen dug in their heels two days after the midterm elections, unwilling to concede in cliffhanger races while some votes remained uncounted. Rep. Jim Marshall won a third term by a slight margin and freshman Rep. John Barrow has also claimed victory. But their opponents - former GOP congressmen Mac Collins and Max Burns - insist provisional and military absentee ballots could still swing the elections in their favor.

"No one wants this race decided more than I do," Burns told reporters Thursday, when unofficial returns showed him trailing Barrow by a mere 889 votes. "But it's still too close to call, too close to concede."

Burns, still hoping for a comeback after losing his 12th District seat to Barrow in 2004, said he planned to wait until Georgia's secretary of state certifies the election results next week, likely on Wednesday.

In middle Georgia's 8th District, Collins also refused to give up despite trailing Marshall by almost 1,700 votes. Spokesman Bill Hagan said Collins may also wait until next week before deciding whether to concede.

Check out the county they stopped counting the votes in because of "Computer Problems" (BS! He knows he's going to lose, so they stopped the count!)

2. And mind you, this is in districts gerrymandered, custom-made
to ensure Republicans win both these seats. How about some Diebold reform now ?

4. These guys screwed up the gerrymandering of the 8th (my district)
The old district included the Dem stronghold of Athens...but in getting rid of those voters, these moronic Repugs essentially replaced them with minority voters who also go heavily Dem.

Georgia Republicans are so stupid they can't even cheat right.

And they run the state which doesn't say much for us.

I'll say it again:

Without Atlanta (and a couple of small pockets here and there in the state), Georgia is Mississippi.

7. Ouch! that's harsh...
...couldn't we be Alabama without Atlanta? I really don't know which is worse, but I always get a better feeling about Alabama (plus that's were my pre-Georgia roots are).

5. When was Burns trailing by only 889 votes?
When they'd counted the first thousand ballots? Holy smokes, what a blowout! This was not a good election for Republicans named Burns, either in Montana or Georgia.

6. Really, he was ahead during most of the vote count...
...I think they started counting the Republican areas first so that he looked like he'd was winning on Tuesday. I was very happy to see him finally go ahead.

I can't believe they stopped that count at this point, in a county where they are going 65-35 Democrat.

He lost, they need to get over it this time.

8. On the other hand
Have Burns there present personally for the recount. Have a gross count of all the ballots (say, 26,270), and a big ticker board ("Votes Needed to Win = 13,136") then a tally board as they go through the ballots one by one. Burns can't leave and has to sit there as his opponent's tally goes up and up:

13,133
13,134
13,135
13,136 (we have a winner)
13,137
13,138
13,139 (Having fun yet, Mr. Burns? Because we've got another 4,000 or more to go!)
13,140
13,141
13,142
