Khamenei calls U.S. elections a victory for Iran
-We're doing something seriously wrong or this dictator is full of crap!

TEHRAN, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday called U.S. President George W. Bush's defeat in congressional elections a victory for Iran.

Bush has accused Iran of trying to make a nuclear bomb, being a state sponsor of terrorism and stoking sectarian conflict in Iraq, all charges Tehran denies.

"This issue (the elections) is not a purely domestic issue for America, but it is the defeat of Bush's hawkish policies in the world," Khamenei said in remarks reported by Iran's student news agency ISNA on Friday.

1. Putting the reins on Mr.bush's desire attack Iran is wrong you think?
Defeating Mr.bush's hawkish policies is good, I think. If Khamenei thinks so also, good.

4. WTF?
What is wrong with you? This is one of the most brutal dictators in the history of the world and he's endorsing our victory and you're saying oh that's great?

6. The man is a politician,
but he holds no real power.

the "brutal dictator" meme is a fallacy. It's a Religious Theocracy, he's just the front man.

8. Uh, wrong one. This isn't the President, it's the actual leader.
This one is the real thing, not the face man. Not like it's a big deal, but just saying.

2. He is foolish

This doesn't change anything and it is much more likely now that we can get international cooperation an any actions that are taken against Iran.

3. In the sense that Iran can go from DEFCOM 5 to 4, they could be right.
Personally, I want to AVOID invading Iran if at all possible. By doing that, we'll get the rest of the world on our side. Then, if Iran goes off the deep end, everyone will be in our court.

Since Bush decided to piss off the rest of the world, we have to START at the beginning, by getting the rest of the world on our side.

That means the US must slow down and rid itself of the blood lust that has been expressed by Bush. Yes, I would rather have been smarter from the beginning. This whole problem could be solved by now if it wasn't for Bush.

I'm no supporter of Iran - far from it. But, if I was an Iranian, I would be thinking that I was a bit safer from invasion after the recent US election. At least someone is now watching the crazy man in charge.

7. It would be foolish for Iran to mistake our kindness for weakness.
Never-the-less, this is definitely one of the factors complicating our extraction from Iraq. I think the obvious solution is an energy policy that makes our involvment in middle-eastern affairs unnecessary. Energy policy needs to be a high priority for the new congress. Fossil fuels will be the death of us all otherwise.
