OLYMPIA -- Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell, fresh from a re-election victory, is in China to promote clean energy technology.
The senator, a member of the Senate energy panel, arrived in Beijing on Friday. She is leading a women's delegation that hopes to foster closer trade ties and to promote energy technology developed in the Pacific Northwest. She will head a gathering of U.S. and Chinese business leaders Monday.
From Seattle P-I:

Former Vice President Al Gore underscored that point when he campaigned for her in Seattle recently, she noted. Gov. Chris Gregoire also is pursuing that angle.
Cantwell said she wants to push her own country to "get much more aggressive" on alternative fuel.
