Iraq prime minister plans big reshuffle
Edited on Sun Nov-12-06 01:27 PM by ECH1969
Nouri al-Maliki, Iraq’s prime minister, told parliamentarians on Sunday that he was planning a “comprehensive” reshuffle of ministers in his national unity government, and scolded lawmakers for failing to show their loyalty to a united Iraq.

The declaration is part of an apparent push to revive an initiative to bring the country’s quarrelling sectarian blocs into a national pact, after the government was accused by both Sunni and Shia of failing to protect them.

Yassin Majid, prime ministerial press adviser, said that the reshuffle could include between seven and nine ministers, but did not say what those ministries would be. snip.

In the closed session, Mr Maliki told the attendant lawmakers: “You all have militias. I will not accept a government made up of militiamen,” according to a parliamentarian quoted by the Associated Press.
