Election Alters Trade Climate
Election Alters Trade Climate
Democrats Eye Environmental, Labor Clauses

By Peter S. Goodman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, November 14, 2006; Page D01

As Democrats prepare to take control of Congress, incoming leaders are planning to insert labor and environmental protections into pending trade treaties and to demand that the Bush administration adopt similar measures in future pacts it negotiates, congressional aides and government officials said yesterday.

The Democrats plan to insert restrictive provisions into two pending trade deals with Peru and Colombia, measures that would limit duty-free access to the U.S. market for goods made in those countries if factories are found to use child labor or deny workers the right to organize unions.

Republicans have historically opposed restrictive provisions in treaties as against the interests of U.S. business and consumers. President Bush has already signed the Peru accord and is expected to sign the Colombia treaty this month. Democrats plan to take a similar approach to deals still being negotiated by the United States trade representative with South Korea, Malaysia and Panama, Capitol Hill aides said.

2. Republicans have always supported child labor.

Even since before the inception of their Party as an offshoot from the Whigs.

4. (Warning: Contains Sarcasm!) Child labor is just fine, it builds character!
When Dubya was a kid hehad to ride in a lime to and from school where he wasn't made to do anything he didn't want to so it's obvious that his chaacter was developed by such difficult rigors like homework and being expected to be in class most of the time! God forbid! Besides those people are poor, they have to make their kids work or else they'd have to sel them for slavery, that's what those people do! Rush said so, I'm sure of it!

Alright, sarcasm aside, does this really surprise anyone with the Republicans? It seems they are the party of iron sword domination to anyone with the eyes to see. Not all republicans are so harsh, yet it seems a common recurring cause through history that parties get taken over by those who's vitrol poisons or holds back the developement of the country. These Neo-Cons are the nastiest of the nasty, they throw fecal matter like angry chimps at anyone who offers them even a hint of disagreement. These nasty little people mouth the party ideology yet never touch any of it when it comes to their actions. They lure people in with the promises of wealth and power while spreading instead a cancer through society with the hopes of gripping more and more greedily into their net until it spills out into arrogance and corrput, blatant, greed.

It is out place to stand againt these people regardless of the party they side with as they side with power, corrupting from the inside the party that is in power, luring people into loyalty to party like people are loyal to a favorite team rather than to think for themselves and research their candidates.

6. It is nice to have representatives who plan
to do the right thing. Who wouldn't prefer to be on the side of the angels? The corporatists who look to buy Democrats, lock, stock & barrel will be dangling goodies before their noses every day. We have to keep watch.
