Mitchell's Lead Changes Little As More Ballots Counted (JD Hayworth update)
http://www.azcentral.com/12news/news/articles/1113az-5thdistrict13-ON-CP.html

Democrat Harry Mitchell's lead over Republican Rep. J.D. Hayworth increased as elections officials continued to count ballots Monday in the 5th Congressional District race.

Mitchell had a total of 88,302 votes, or 50 percent. Hayworth had 82,485 votes, or 47 percent, according to the Secretary of State's office, which continues to compile early and provisional ballots.

(snip)

The Associated Press called the race for Mitchell last Tuesday.

Hayworth has not conceded the race. Elections officials say it will take several days to finish counting the more than 100,000 ballots that remain.

***********

Ok, for the first time I am starting to think that maybe Hayworth won't succeed in having this race stolen for him. But I still don't like how the Republican county recorder is dragging this out.....

3. Limbaugh clone
Ever notice how his speaking style and vocal inflections are eerily similar to Limbaugh's? I guess that's all he has to offer...a lack of talent on loan from another talentless hack.
He also makes a complete ass of himself in the documentary "Hacking Democracy" when they show his remarks from the floor. Pompous ass. I was sooooo glad to see him go down last Tuesday.

15. JD overdoes it on the makeup though. Limbaugh uses it more sparingly
at least in public :)

4. You know what's funny?
Election results in '96, I believe, had Foghorn up by <1000 votes before counting early ballots and the SOB claimed victory.

Now that he's behind, he wants every vote counted.

I wonder how many faces he sees when he looks in the mirror.

6. Hi Sal, long time, no see!
:hi:

Yes, he is a total hypocrite.

For me, this race has been the most important of the election.

He needs to return to sportscasting.

7. Heya!
I've been around here and there. Been keeping busy planning my wedding! WOOT!

I'm so glad he's gone. I loved the LTTE that Drinkwater's daughter wrote in the EVTrib... "Sorry, JD, this is Mitchell country."

but I can't seem to find it.

Do they post LTTEs online?

on edit: CONGRATS on your upcoming wedding! That's great to hear!

5. I like the headline
About how Mitchell's lead "changes little," which could imply that it shrank a little or grew a little. Imagine the disappointment among Hayworth's supporters when someone reads the first paragraph to them instead of just the headline.

8. Let them have their recount. It's their right. I do wish...
that somebody would point out how friendly the GOP has suddenly become with recounts. What happened to all those taunts of "sore loser?"

12. This is an initial count of votes, not a recount.
The REPUBLICAN Maricopa county recorder was totally unprepared for the 250,000 early and provisional ballots that came in on or near election day.

They all have to be hand-verified before they are counted and they are only able to verify about 25,000 a day. That is why the initial count of the election results is STILL days away.

It makes me nervous to have it drag on so long in the hands of Republicans. It gives them more time to cheat, although so far there is no evidence that they are cheating.

9. Count all the votes
It is the Repugs who want to supress the vote count. Hayworth will lose and the Dems will have taken the high road. Makes us look even better IMHO.

11. Hayworth should concede, you know, for the good of the
Country and so as not to lower the process or dishonor the office.

Now Harry's up 6,499 votes.

Way more than when AP called it for him.
