DeWine(Son) scuffles with heckler (remarks about father)

Hamilton County Commissioner Pat DeWine was involved while out to dinner Monday night in an altercation with a man who made critical remarks about DeWine’s father, two-term Republican U.S. Senator Mike DeWine

"He was purposefully saying some insulting and personal comments about my father," DeWine said Tuesday of the incident at Jean-Ro Bistro, 413 Vine St., downtown.

DeWine and his date were sharing dinner and a bottle of wine when he heard a man at the next table – Dr. Chris Bolling – make derogatory comments about the senator, who was defeated by Sherrod Brown last week in his bid for re-election.

DeWine admitted he lost his temper, initially saying there was no physical confrontation but he later acknowledged Bolling’s glasses were knocked off by DeWine’s extended hand as Bolling was getting out of his chair.

“We had a heated exchange of words,” DeWine said. “There was no profanity. I regret losing my temper.

5. So knocking off glasses isn't physical?
Wonder what the legal precedent is for that. I know in basketball the hand is considered part of the ball but, in assault, there's no ball..

Probably not well. Starting fights in a restuarant usually drags the mood pretty badly.

Karen and yes there are kids.

To put it delicately and as a very progressive dem who is all for miscegenation, the mistress is not the usual GOP flavor.

24. And I know someone who knows someone who discovered them going at it...
in a janitor's closet at a country club in Mt. Lookout or Hyde Park, I forget, while Dewine was still married.

Nate Livingston created a Friends of Karen Dewine yahoo group that was just awful. If you know Nate you can imagine. I fell for it initially and thought the "woman scorned" had gone Betty Broderick.

Edited on Tue Nov-14-06 11:45 PM by Jeff In Milwaukee
Ask Pat "Family Values" DeWine about his ex-wife and children. Fucking hypocrite.

Note to Pat DeWine: A wuss like you should pick your fights carefully, because anybody this side of a twelve-year-old girl could kick your ass. I assume that Dr. Bolling was either a pacifist of a quadriplegic or would be missing half your teeth.

In other words, he sucker punched him before he could get out of his chair to get on an equal footing. What an asshole. I'm so glad we got those dishonorable dirtbags out of our legislature.

26. If what Son is saying is true, I would have decked the guy too....
Sorry to disagree, but I would defend my parents too, if anyone said anything bad about them (merited or not) - even if they weren't saying it to me. Especially my mother. If anyone said anything remotely bad about my mother and I heard that person, I too would confront him/her.

27. Enjoy your lawsuit.
This ain't a 1950's schoolyard: Dueling is illegal and the "Marquis de Queensbury Rules" apply in the ring only, and there only obliquely.

If I remember correctly a certain "President" probably invaded a country and deposed a dictator at least in part due to the "fact" that he "...tried to kill my daddy!"

It doesn't matter WHAT a private citizen said about a public figure. It happens to be (under the law) free speech.

29. Why limit it to defending just your parents against criticism? How about
your favorite football team or coach? Your favorite late night teevee host? Suppose someone trashes your favorite political website or political party? :spank:

28. Maybe we should have the workers and soldiers of this state
. . . confront the senior DeSwine about the serial Bewsh-enabling, job-shipping and IWR supporting that's hit Ohio's middle class in the face for years.

Public figure, freedom of speech, kid. Your dad fucked Ohio's voters and lost for it. The fear/smear card only goes so far with people who can't buy groceries or better themselves. Deal.
