AP: Wyoming's GOP Rep. Cubin wins 7th term

CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Republican Rep. Barbara Cubin won a seventh term, defeating Democratic challenger Gary Trauner, officials announced Wednesday after a final state canvass of last week's vote.

The race was close, but not close enough to trigger an automatic recount.

The State Canvassing Board, made up of Wyoming's top five elected officials, certified the results Wednesday showing Cubin with 93,336 votes, or 48.3 percent, to Trauner's 92,324 votes, or 47.8 percent. Libertarian Thomas Rankin got 7,481, or 3.8 percent.

Trauner, a businessman from Wilson, has said he would be satisfied with the outcome from the canvassing board as long as there were no problems that might call the results into question.

9. Indeed, but there's hope.

This was a VERY close race in Wyoming of all places. Cubin is pretty much hated there, but some couldn't find the courage enough to vote Dem vs. not voting at all. Once the Dems enact things that will benefit Wyoming residents (middle class tax relief, minimum wage increase, etc) then this could go our way.

at the very end, and nat'l party's infusion of cash to Babs, Gary would've won. Sad. She's very beatable next time around.

7. It's one thing to be dumb as a stump

But being dumb as a stump in the minority party is a real downer. In the majority, you can just nod and go along, bring in a little pork and folks will say "Ah, Cubin? She's not so bad. Got some money for that highway project outside of Laramie." In the minority, it will be "Cubin? What's she done for us lately? What can she do for us in the GOP? And lord, ain't she stupid?"
