Iran complains to U.N. over repeated Israeli threats
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Iran, whose president has vowed to wipe Israel off the map, complained to the United Nations on Wednesday that the Jewish state was repeatedly threatening to bomb it.

The threats were "matters of extreme gravity" and the U.N. Security Council should condemn them and demand that Israel "cease and desist immediately from the threat of the use of force against members of the United Nations," Iranian U.N. Ambassador Javad Zarif said.

His comments came in a letter to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan dated November 10 and circulated at the United Nations on Wednesday.

1. Maybe both could simply stop sabre rattling
If Ahmedinejad would stop insisting on wiping out Israel, maybe Israel would stop with the bombing threats.

3. Not to start a DU war, but...
Ahmadinejad never said Iran would wipe Israel out or off the map.

Israel is the only one making direct threats.

5. I have a feeling
that what actually happened was that something changed in translation which the media then jumped on. The changes may have been malicious by intent to serve a purpose.

14. Thanks and read on...........
delete the bit in the address bar which follows .info to get to the home site, scroll down and you can get Al-Jaze*ra English live through realplayer. I'd already got in another way but that covers other links being broken.

Thanks again - I wasn't sure where to search for the Iran translation info.

15. The article says lower down that Iranian officials say it wasn't a threat.
But of course Reuters doesn't put that in the opening paragraph.

The speculation increased after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last year threatened to "wipe Israel off the map," a statement Iranian officials have argued was not a threat.

19. Khaybar.
They renamed a missile with that place name and gave it to Hezbollah.

That pretty much says it all.

10. have you cracked the code?
why not post examples of "code speak?" Actions speak louder than words, and so far Iran hasn't occupied any sovereign states that I'm aware of.

12. Nor has Iran taken a segment of its population
corralled them into a ghetto where they are being systematically "made redundant" and brutalized to the benefit of NO ONE.

18. It isn't that difficult.
Actions do speak louder than words...like funding terrorist organizations and waging a proxy war. Then again, I guess that is only wrong when the US does it.
