2. I think it depends on how you define "the state". |
|
I don't think the Iraqi government qualifies as any state that most civilized humans would recognize.

it was very 'stable' under Saddam wasn't it? Yet tens of thousands of naysayers and 'wrong thinkers' or just 'in the wrong placer's' were brutally murdered and 'disappeared'.
We've just replaced one murdering dictator with a whole bunch of tinpot dictators. Once they kill each other off, and the biggest dictator wins, Iraq will be stable again. Most countries dominated by murdering, psycopathic thugs are 'stable' - just look at N. Korea, Burma/Myanmar etc. It's easy to be stable when you kill off all the opposing voices or keep them silenced by fear of torture and death.
The US knows what it's doing. It's done this before - though at arm's length. Remember when we overthrew the government in Persia/Iran and installed Pahlavi as Shah? Now that worked out ok didn't it.....oh, wait a minute.......

It did work in Ethiopia - when Selassie was overthrown by the Marxists -
They imprisoned all the gov't officials and ruled for the next 20 years

9. or maybe a lot of the people Saddam killed were not such nice people after all? |

maybe he knew what the fuck he was doing. why they couldn't just make nice with him like they used to and still do with evil assholes the world over... well, know why? because they're little dickless wonders who needed to show the world how tough they were. Everything else is secondary. I firmly believe the only reason bush went in to Iraq was to show off. He's a strutting little prick, the kind that has to be beaten down regularly to keep him in check. Instead we put this utter piece of human garbage in charge of everything. god help this nation.

I didn't see the "watch" link on the original page you used. It's worth rummaging back through their archive if you've never done so - just ignore all our mundane UK crap.

12. I thought it was 19 trucks en route from an emirate. |

These numbers and stories change every minute. Because it's unsafe for reporters to actually go out there?
