Incoming Senate Leader Wants $75B for War-Worn Forces
Edited on Thu Nov-16-06 07:23 PM by ECH1969
When U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, the incoming Senate majority leader, said he wants to boost defense spending by $75 billion to rebuild the war-worn U.S. Army, his announcement raised some key budget questions but provided few answers, defense analysts said.

First is, when is the money coming? “We don’t know yet, we have a number of options,” said Reid’s spokesman, Jim Manley.
Reid, D-Nev., said adding $75 billion to the defense budget will be one of the first things the Democrat-controlled Congress does when it reconvenes in January.

In a television interview, Reid said, “We need to revitalize our military. They are in a state of distress.

1. How about this
Embrace the Progressive Caucus plan to cut all this overpriced outdated Cold War boondoggles out of the military budget, then there'd be plenty of money for what you're suggesting

8. Can y'all see the negative campaign ads?
"Joe Democrat voted to CUT spending on this very important military boondoggle ... Larry Republican loves America, and would never do such a thing."

Reality apparently plays such a small role in politics, I can only wonder what wlll become of this...

9. Getting off the "Privitization" snide might be enough
all by itself to offset this cost, at least as Cheney/Rummie and the chimp they came in with have mis-managed "privitization."
