NATO Trains ISAF for Possible Nuclear Attack in Afghanistan
NATO has launched training courses for International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Afghan police in the case of a possible nuclear strike in their vulnerable country.

ISAF Special Forces Commander Dave Tomas said that terrorist attacks had increased recently in Afghanistan, particularly in the southern part of the war-torn country.

Tomas remarked that ISAF officials and 55 Afghan police had attended the course, which instructs officials on how to defend themselves in the event of a nuclear attack.

The ISAF Commander underlined that the reason for the training was the threat of a possible nuclear attack, adding that they worried much about the issue.

1. With no offense to the Afghanis or their culture, but what could ANYONE possibly gain from nuking a
nation largely of villages, smallholders, tradesmen and craftsmen, shepherds, and near-subsistence level farmers?

Kabul's destruction? It appears to have been underway for some time these past few years already.

A massive ground force invading or maneuvering? Ridiculous.

By whom and for what reason would Afghanistan be subjected to a nuclear attack?

In order to "secure" Afghanistan, the Arabs need to get out of the state and the Taliban's influence neutralized through viable alternative methods of intervention such as schools, clinics and the independence of the women there.

The Taliban will only be irrevelent when there are alternatives for the people to embrace, not the Karzai government. The King needs to be consulted, and even returned if he is able/willing, but given his age and long exile, who knows if he is able or willing. Zair Shah could be the logical rallying point for the nation if he were returned to a significant role.

3. If the Taliban take control of a Pakistani nuke, NATO soldiers
will be the target and you can't really talk about the "logic" of its use when dealing with the Taliban...

4. The nuclear option is the only way to end the opium drug trade
At least they think it will.

We've been fighting the "Drug War" for over 30 years and have spent hundreds of billions of dollars. Yet drugs are as available today as they were "back then."

The American taxpayer is a clueless fool.

2. This just popped into my head after reading this...
"We'll meet again
Don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day..."

Jesus Christ, Mohammad, Buddha, and Thor! Where does it go from here?

6. I got that training! Anyone else here remember duck and cover?

They made us trot out to the hallway and kneel down with our heads down by our knees against the wall. Then my good buddy Gary Giacommelli (RIP Gary) would invariably let one rip and that would be that.

8. ROFL, those drills.
I had those until about 3rd grade and didn't fully understand the nuke aspect. I imagined fleets of bombers followed by paratroopers charging into the school to massacre us while were were kneeling facing the wall.

7. How to defend yourself against a nuclear attack ?
Are they having a laugh ? What are they figuring on : factor three million sun tan lotion and blink at the right time ?

Sounds to make about as much sense as teaching them how to defend themselves against bananas :
