Iran needs 'practical' moves by US before talks over Iraq
TEHRAN (AFP) - Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has said that Tehran needed to see "practical" moves and a new attitude by the United States before any talks about Iraq.

"Just words by Americans about a change of their policies in Iraq is no solution to problems. We expect practical behaviour from the White House," Mottaki, who is visiting New Delhi for regional talks, was quoted as saying by state television.

"We will first study the practical and new attitude of the United States in terms of talks over Iraq and then decide on it," Mottaki added Friday.

Moves by the United States to open talks with Iran to help resolve the situation in Iraq and to promote peace there earlier this year came to nothing amid mutual recriminations, despite initial cautious expressions of acceptance.

Seems very sensible
Just saying, put your money where your mouth is, then we'll talk. I can see how all this "change of course" talk would seem like a bluff to the neighbor of a flattened country.

To those of you who will say I am "in bed with Holocaust deniers" for admitting it... I'd like to remind you that your beloved country sentences people to rape rooms for possession of a plant.

2. Like we stop threatening to destroy them?
How arrogant can we be? We are running around threatening the Iranians with regime change while concurrently demanding that they help us out in Iraq. Stupid? Arrogant? Arrogant Idiots?

3. Iran slams US military strategy in Iraq, Afghanistan
Iran slammed Washington's policies in Iraq and Afghanistan and called for a revision of strategies in the region to avert further bloodshed.

"A fundamental formula must be found to deal with these problems... as we see it a number of wrong policies have been implemented (that) need to be addressed," Mottaki said.

US President George W. Bush has come under fire for Washington's Iraq strategy since the invasion in 2003, with sectarian violence between the minority Sunnis and majority Shias claiming thousands of lives.

7. Pretty much what smart people said before the war....
We take out Saddam and leave Iran as the major power in the region.
