Power lines sabotaged S. Baghdad
Power lines south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad were sabotaged yesterday, Iraqi Ministry of Electricity said Saturday.

The power outage in some parts of Baghdad and the middle zone was caused by recent sabotage of "feeder" lines south and east of Baghdad, the statement quoted an official in the Ministry of Electricity as saying.

It will take around 48 hours to repair the damage caused to the electric "feeder" lines, the statement said, adding the repair crews have already begun repairing the damage.

Power lines have repeatedly been damaged by militants north Baghdad and south Al-Yousefia and Al-Latifiyah areas.

Is that "north, south, east and west of there, somewhat"?

4. Militants and neighborhood "co-ops"

I imagine some of the makeshift power "companies" would prefer stay in business generating electricity for the neighborhood and delivering it via the cables they've strung up over the streets.
