Russia barred from Iraq contracts
http://www.gateway2russia.com/st/art_180023.php

Russia has been excluded from competing for $18.6bn in prime contracts for the reconstruction of Iraq. The same happened to Germany and France.

This information is contained in a directive issued by Paul Wolfowitz, the US Deputy Defense Secretary, the News York Times reports. This will allow the members of the coalition to unite their efforts in the restoration of Iraq, it is said in the document.

1. Campaign Contributors only...
I thought it was official policy that only GWB's campaign contributors get contracts.

Aren't IRAQI companies excluded as well?

Bloody imperialists...

They are far from out of "future" contacts.

5. Didn't we
go begging for these countries to contribute money or forgive massive amounts of Iraqi debt? I hope these guys have learned that you just can't play nice with this misAdministration. My advice, take your grants home and send the bill collector....

They have created a desert and called it peace...

6. Anybody calculated how much this narrowing of competition
will cost American taxpayers? That is nothing but a blatant robbery,
with the extra no-competition profits being simply stolen from
American people by a handful of well-connected corporations.

9. Gee weren't "Bush and Putin 'best of buddies'" ?
Bush and Putin 'best of buddies'

"The more I get to know President Putin" he said, "the more I get to see his heart and soul ...the more I know we can work together in a positive way".

/snip/

Though a teetotaller, President Bush toasted his guest, noting that in Texas "you only invite a good friend to your home".

/snip/

In response Mr Putin replied the US was "fortunate at such a critical time in its history to have such a man of character at its helm".

/snip/

"The best diplomacy starts with getting to know each other," Mr Bush said, adding, "I knew that President Putin was a man with whom I could work to transform the relationship between our two countries."
