Cheney visits troops in Iraq for Thanksgiving: Iraq TV
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney flew into Baghdad on Thursday for a previously unannounced visit to celebrate the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday with U.S. troops, Iraqi state television said.

The U.S. embassy could not immediately confirm the report.

Cheney is seen as a key architect of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, along with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld who resigned after Republicans were defeated in mid-term Congressional elections this month.

Cheney's office said on Wednesday the vice president would travel to Saudi Arabia on Friday for talks with King Abdullah. The meeting comes as the White House weighs a shift in strategy on Iraq.

You'd think they could find a new holiday to exploit. Like their administration, this is sour.

2. Awesome...
Remind people in Iraq that they are occupied. When I need to have a photo-op showing I have balls, I just drop my pants. Then I tea-bag the troops.

3. The key architech, hmm? Of a failed war, hmmmm?
Well, here's his Thanksgiving gift to the almost 2900 troops he helped murder:

One plastic turkey coming up, 33%ers. Feed that to the troops coming home.

On a better note, Ft. Wainwright's own 172nd Stryker Battalion is due to (finally, after 2 deployments AND a 4-month extension of the last tour) COME HOME around December 5th. They'll be here for Winter Carnival and Winter Solstice. So many lost out of the 172nd, so many wounded, so much family hurting. Fairbanks welcomes them home with banners and tears.

WELCOME HOME, FAIRBANKS TROOPS!! YOU MAKE US PROUD!! WE SAVED SOME SNOW FOR YOU!!

Cheney's office denies he's in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Nov 23 (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's office on Thursday
denied reports he was in Iraq for a previously unannounced visit to celebrate
the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday with American troops.

Iraqi state television and several other Arabic news channels reported his arrival,
but neither the U.S. Embassy nor the U.S. military could confirm it.

A spokeswoman for Cheney, Megan McGinn, told Reuters in Washington: "That is not
true. He is not there now." Asked if he had plans to travel there later on Thursday,
she said: "Not to my knowledge."

16. He reminds me of Col. Flagg in M*A*S*H*
Flagg's "trademark" is to assure that no one sees him leave when he finishes a job. ("I have no home. I am the wind.") Keeping up that image backfired at least once when he ordered all of the others in the room to close their eyes as he exited via a leap through the window. When the others opened their eyes after hearing a yelp of pain, Hawkeye investigated and dryly noted, "The wind just broke his leg."

11. Maybe that's why they are now denying that's he is there.
They couldn't find anyone that Chenney would trust enough to allow into the same building. He got there, then realized (due to lack of experience) that soldiers deployed for occupations have weapons. Chickenshit is probably on his way back with his tail tucked between his legs. Probably made his SS detail round up a couple stray dogs so he could recover his assholeness by beating the dogs over the Atlantic.

getting up early to get a turkey in the oven gets me grouchy, I guess. I usually wait until I twist the wings around behind the turkey's back, locking them together, to go say "OK, are you ready to talk now?" This morning, I started the interogation of the turkey as I started running water over it....

13. W/ five deferrments, Cheney is inviting trouble
especially post-election and after comments made by a Marine general that the troops are over-extended.

Who would Cheney dine w/? the 172nd Stryker Brigade? Hardly.

10. It's Cheneys last chance to thank the troops for the $Billions in War Profits...
that he, Halliburton and KBR received as the fruits of the troops labor.

Last chance as Vice-president, anyways.
