U.S. Marine dies in Iraq

The Associated Press
Published: November 25, 2006

BAGHDAD, Iraq: A U.S. Marine died from wounds sustained while
fighting in Anbar province, the western Iraqi base of many
Sunni-Arab insurgents, the military said Saturday.

Assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5, the Marine died Friday,
the command said.

His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

The deaths raised to at least 2,873 the number of U.S. servicemen
who have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003,
according to an Associated Press count.

Fifty-three American service members have died this month in Iraq.

1. I'm so glad that my Marine nephew who served two tours
in Iraq is now assigned to other duties.
