in Iraq. There is only a new dictatorship, installed by the U.S. government.

16. They had a larger voter turnout in their last elections than we did in ous.
Actually, I don't think we have ever in our history even come close to the 70% turnout that they experienced on December 15th. Is that what you call a dictatorship?

20. Twaddle.
the extreme chaos surrounding the Iraqi "election" was well reported. Perhaps not by the corporate owned cable media, but here, on DU, there was no shortage of information.

My busy schedule does not allow much time for searching for links in order to abridge someone's ignorance, so you will have to research the topic yourself.

22.  Karl Rove stole the Iraqi election too? Is that what you're saying?
"here, on DU, there was no shortage of information."
And I'm sure it was completely unbiased and factual as it always is when discussing George Bush's Iraq policies.

"My busy schedule does not allow much time for searching for links in order to abridge someone's ignorance, so you will have to research the topic yourself."
I have researched it. The only ignorance here is your assertion that there is no democratically elected government in Iraq.

36. I was going to say the same thing to you but decided to leave the Kool Aid out of the discussion.
"Clearly, you choose to exist in the "reality" created by corporatist propaganda."

As opposed to the "reality" which you have constructed to support your paranoid delusions? Absolutely. You are, after all, the one making the completely unfounded claim that there isn't a democratically elected government in Iraq. Please, qualify that assertion with some evidence or at least some evidence based rationalizations.

44. How strange,
Edited on Wed Nov-29-06 01:41 AM by ronnie624
seeing the "purple finger" meme on DU. The owners of the cable media used it in their propaganda. I clearly remember numerous Republican nit-wits in Congress, celebrating Iraqi "democracy", by displaying purple fingers, but seeing such nonsense from a poster with more than a thousand posts on DU, is rather surprising.

As I feel no compulsion to qualify my assertions with evidence that you clearly have no interest in anyway, I shall decline to waste my time doing so. My primary reason for frequenting DU, is to keep myself abreast of world events and important issues, not to stroke my ego, arguing with right-wingers.

Good day to you.

39. Rather odd that a "democratically elected government" needs outside invaders to defend it...
I mean, "democracy" and "elections" are supposed to be innately appealing to the oppressed masses... so why would such things need foreigners (our guys) in Humvees wearing armor to, er, "support" and "defend" the government they brought about?

"Sometime after last November’s Presidential election, I was told by past and present intelligence and military officials, the Bush Administration decided to override Pelosi’s objections and covertly intervene in the Iraqi election. A former national-security official told me that he had learned of the effort from “people who worked the beat”—those involved in the operation. It was necessary, he added, “because they couldn’t afford to have a disaster.”

A Pentagon consultant who deals with the senior military leadership acknowledged that the American authorities in Iraq “did an operation” to try to influence the results of the election. “They had to,” he said. “They were trying to make a case that Allawi was popular, and he had no juice.” A government consultant with close ties to the Pentagon’s civilian leaders said, “We didn’t want to take a chance.”"

Golly, there's just nothin' so Amur'can as "supporting the democratically elected government of Iraq."

Three cheers for Our Leader, President Bush!

49. You're welcome!
So far, I've found Seymour Hersh to be pretty reliable. Unfortunately, though, I always end up wishing something like "Oh, please, let him be wrong THIS time!" Example: Hersh's predictions that Cowboy Shrub will attack Iran regardless of the obvious stupidity of that plan.

8. luckily, the "mission" is a secret. So it could happen at any time or never.
After all, every justification for this war was proven to be false. Now that IraqNam is spiraling into a hell of our own making, the Bushistas pin their hopes on Jim Baker and Sandra Day O'Connor. (SANDRA? What you doin here, babe?) Of course, just in case they disagree with Jimbo, Cheney has organized a DOD study that will contradict whatever Jombo's group eventually comes up with.

IMO * thinks if he's happy with the war's end situation; everyone will be happy and he might be right for once. Who will say "NO Way, let the war go on"? Some of us will grumble, but who will want the damn stupid war to continue?

To turn Iraq into a regional ally. Sadly, the only way I see this happening is if we install a brutal Saddam-esque dictator who is pro-US.

38. Er... wasn't Saddam formerly an ally of ours?
Or did millions of internet users just imagine they saw that picture of him heartily shaking hands with a certain Amur'can politico?

Yeah, that's a great way to get allies: bomb 'em, invade 'em, burn 'em out, an' then give 'em a big ol' Texas handshake.

Bush/Cheney's mission: line one's own personal wallet as long as possible. Retire in globalist splendor. Be a citizen of no particular nation (nations are obsolete, anyway), so you don't have to follow any particular nation's laws. The only law globalists heed is the law of the jungle: more assets=more power; the big fish eats the smaller fish. I think it's called "predation".

What a moron. Unless he redefines the mission (or actually, DEFINES the mission) as "create total chaos in the Middle East and totally destroy any legitimacy the United States ever had," I don't think his mission is going to be completed in our lifetimes.

He's in total "denial" of his minority, and "lame" politial position. In no way, has he shown ANY effort to "work with" the Dems since the Dems' win recently. Certainly his hiring of Poppy's "old team" of experts, acts AS IF Chimpy the Emperor STILL doesn't realize he 'has no clothes.'
