Sources close to outgoing Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., tell the National Journal's Hotline that Frist has decided not to run for President in 2008.

27. He'd have been slaughtered early
The Repugs despise him, it's clear from any reading of freeper comments that he'd never pull more than five percent of caucus or primary support. He's just sparing his family from the obvious.

10. LOL - who's left??
McCain - hahaha. Guiliani - HAHAHA.

To be honest, though, Hagel from Nebraska projects himself to be moderate (which we know he isn't) but to the "general masses", he would seem appealing. We need an excellent candidate to counteract that. Gore/Clark 08 anyone??

>>WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican U.S. Senate Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee will not run for the White House in 2008, a Republican Party source said on Wednesday.

Frist, a surgeon who had served two terms, had stepped down from the Senate this year to prepare for a possible presidential run. An announcement was expected later on Wednesday.<<

15. Or his family told him not to bother running yet
The Treasury is filled with nothing but IOUs. They need to let a DEM administration back in for awhile to fix the mess and improve receipts be-for the GOP pulls another raid.

34. Maybe that's it
I was surprised to hear he wasn't running as I had assumed that was the primary reason he was retiring for the Senate. Now that the media isn't turning a *total* blind eye to Repug corruption, perhaps he got scared. It's a shame, though, as I think he would have been a good Repug to go up against; we would have had a nice shot at beating him, regardless of our candidate.

30. "doctor around the world to serve those in poverty, in famine, and in civil war"
So the next obvious question....is Iraq going to be his first stop?? Cuz if civil war is what he is looking for, that's the place to be!!

Better question..why not start here at home and head to the lower income parts of our own country. Open up a cross country medical mobile/van and provide the much needed services.

32. I'm sure he's looking forward to making a lot more in the private sector now...
probably will be on a few boards, consulting here and there, might even become a political advisor.

I can almost bet that he won't be hurting for money as a private citizen.
