N.H. first state to offer girls free cancer vaccine
CONCORD, N.H. - New Hampshire announced plans Wednesday to become the first state to offer the new cervical-cancer vaccine free to all girls. Beginning in January, the vaccine against the human papilloma virus, or HPV, will be provided to girls ages 11 through 18 as part of a state program that offers various immunizations to children at no cost.

The program is paid for by the federal government and insurance companies.

The Food and Drug Administration approved the vaccine in June for girls as young as 9. It prevents infection from some strains of HPV, a sexually transmitted virus that can cause cervical cancer and genital warts. Cervical cancer is the No. 2 cancer killer in women.

Damn those godless heathens!

A new vaccine that protects women against cancer-causing strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV) is at the center of yet another controversy at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Although it is generally accepted that the vaccine is effective against the most dangerous strains of HPV, which are responsible for about 70 percent of all cases of cervical cancer, vaccine opponents claim that making it a regular part of childrens' vaccine protocol would encourage young women to be more sexually active.

2. It's about time people realize that the religious right agenda has nothing to do with "life"
and everything to do with trying to get people to stop fucking for non-procreative purposes.

3. They don't really want to stop the fucking
They want to penalize people and see them suffer. That is the real reason they oppose abortion.

4. I think many of them fantasize that they can put a stop to the fornication.
It's a weird, weird brand of kink they have.

6. I think that's their rationalization
but underneath it's the idea that "sluts" deserve to suffer the "consequences" of sex. There's no real concern about boys or men fornicating.

And to oppose a vaccine like this is purely punitive, against girls as young as nine, who, if they are sexually "active" are either being molested or are in a very, very bad home situation.

And beneath it all slithers the dark underbelly of classism.

23. "Purely punitive"
Edited on Thu Nov-30-06 10:23 AM by LilyLibber
is absolutely spot-on correct. Sad, tragic, and wrong though it may be, you're absolutely right.

The fact that they'd rather potentially see these young girls grow up and get deadly cancer than protect them from its cause simply because its cause is an STD is chilling and sick.

Major kudos to NH. May the rest follow.

20. Funny. I thought most people fantasized about fornication without stopping. Speaking from personal
experience, of course. I always did know there was something strange about me. Damn! Does this mean I have to cut IT off? Well, since it doesn't actually OFFEND me, I guess not. What a relief.

8. I don't get it.
The article below seems to imply that young girls are not particularly at risk for cervical cancer.

.."Cervical cancer tends to occur in midlife. Half of women diagnosed with this cancer are between the ages of 35 and 55. It rarely occurs in women younger than 20".

Why would they give this vaccine - and vaccines are risky - to 9 year olds?

Seems the biggest winner here is the pharmaceutical industry.

10. The Pharm companies
that created the vaccine are the ones that strongly urged and lobbied for the FDA to approve that age. They said it was important to do so at that age due to the virus for some reason. Something about how early it can actually show up. The FDA approved it knowing that each state would just make up it's own rules anyways. The FDA originally didn't want it to be administered to any females under the age of 16.

young girls from contracting the diseasr from incest and or sesual assault. I worked with one sexual assault victim who was only eighteen months old.

13. the vaccine protects you from HPV
HPV can cause cancer (not just cervical but penile and anal in rare cases). HPV can stick with you for life and is a sexually transmitted disease. Immunizing girls before they are sexually active is the best bet for not picking it up since so many of us have the disease. Any doctors who have done the research and are in the field are recommending this. The only drawback is the 600 dollar price tag.

19. "potentially dangerous vaccine." How so? Got a link for that claim? Everything I have
read on it suggests this vaccine is a real breakthrough on controlling cervical cancer. All vaccines carry some inherent risk. Smallpox vaccine is one of the worst ones, yet it used to be required for all school age children in the U.S. The question is, are the risks of giving the vaccines outweighed by the risks of getting the disease?

32. It's not all that simple. It only protects against some strains.
It's really not clear what the long term result is going to be?
Will the strains that are not common now simply become more prevalent as a result of vaccinations?

39. I don't trust PHARMA.
Edited on Fri Dec-01-06 09:08 AM by OKthatsIT
I don't trust them....when they show US they've given their own children this vaccine FIRST, then I'll consider it.

Our family has autoimmune problems which may have been aggravated by 'public school mandatory' vaccines. We later found out that it was against the law to force us to take them. My daughter can decide for herself if she is sexually active enough to warrant this. Our family has open discussion on such matters, so 'fearing promiscuity' isn't an issue.

Why didn't they create a vaccine for boys? Male studies are easier to control, since they dont have the extras of their endocrine systems.

I, also, don't trust the globalists agenda to control population. Be leary of such things, is my advice.
