Bush to seek $100 bln more war funds: House report
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush will soon seek about $100 billion in additional emergency funds for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a report on Wednesday by Democratic staffers for two key panels in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Such a large request would mark a rapid escalation in the cost of the Iraq war at a time when public support is plummeting and Bush is looking for new answers to stem violence that threatens to spin out of control.

In a broad report criticizing Republicans' fiscal decisions, Democratic staffers on the House Appropriations Committee and House Budget Committee also noted that Congress already had appropriated about $379 billion for the war in Iraq.

"The administration is expected to submit an additional request early next year that will total roughly $100 billion. At least three-quarters of this request will support operations in Iraq," according to the report.

our savings, mortgaging our home, on his stupid high-stakes game that feathers his own future nest with billions of kickback dollars after he divorces and abandons us.

7. $333.33 for every person in the United States. Or $4000 for everyone in Iraq.
I would think of a lot of things I could do to keep the Iraqis too busy rebuilding their country we destroyed with $4K per head....

Gee you could train and equip a complete massive police force with $4K per head...
Guess that never crossed anyone's mind.

Check my math: 100 E9 divided by 300 E6= 1 E11 divided by 3 E8= .3333 E3= 333.33

100 E9 divided by 25 E6 = 4E3= $4,000.

9. The democrats damn well better pull the plug on this.
If they don't just zero out the funding of our illegal occupation of Iraq, the mid-term election accomplished absolutely nothing at all.

12. Why doesn't Bush just gather every dollar
we have out there and just burn them all? How about $100 Billion for rebuilding New Orleans? Or preventing a dirty bomb from being smuggled into the USA? Or for feeding the homeless? Or for caring properly for wounded veterans? Pelosi better put impeachment "back on the table" damn fast before this madman destroys what is left of this once great country.

13. The bush cabal WANT the Dems to say no to this....
so they can try and point the finger and say "It is the Democrats fault we lost because they wouldn't give our troops what they needed." I think the Dems should call his bluff and say No. I suspect the majority that voted the repubs out, the majority that want the US troops out of Iraq will not fall for the bush cabal's crap.

19. Uh, no; how about we tap Exxon for some money?
They seem to be doing okay this last couple of years. I see that Goldman Sachs is handing out over $15 billion in bonuses here at the end of the year. What does Goldman Sachs actually produce, make, manufacture? Maybe instead of handing out billions to a bunch of investment bankers and oil men, many of whom are overrich to begin with, we could just confiscate their profits for the war effort? After all, a lot of their profit seems to derive from the expenditure of billions of Treasury dollars and thousands of military lives. Maybe it's time for the oil companies and the investment folks to quit riding for free and actually pull their own weight?
