7. I'm guessing its ordinary fertilizer
which I'm sure goes through the port on a routine basis.

Bush must be getting ready to make a 'major' speech...oh wait, that's right, he's making one tomorrow...on how we have to surge or whatever the new escalation term is in IraqNam

9. The speech itself is terroristic, unless
it's an immediate pull-out from the ME.

4. Saw it on CNN tv too. Funny how there's the possible gas leak
first in NY City, now possible plastic explosives in Miami.

If I didn't know better I might think that stuff's happening to make the nation more open to a major policy change.

Oh yea, and we also have a speech by * Wednesday night about a change of direction in Iraq.

Hmmmm, waiting with due skepticism.

11. Plastic explosives detected at Miami
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 04:02 PM by Scurrilous
<snip>

"A package that was going to be loaded onto a cruise ship at the Port of Miami tested positive for plastic explosives Monday, the Coast Guard said.

The package was tested six times and each time it came back positive for C4, said Petty Officer James Judge.

Miami-Dade police were examining the package to confirm whether explosives were present.

The developments came a day after three Middle Eastern men in a cargo truck sparked a brief terrorism scare at the port. After a bomb squad search, authorities concluded that the men were carrying automotive parts and that the scare stemmed from miscommunication."

Meanwhile:

Charges dropped against 3 men involved in port scare

<snip>

"Miami-Dade police have identified the three men who caused a nationwide scare at the Port of Miami-Dade on Sunday.

Amar al Hadad, 27, the driver of the 18-wheeler, was at the center of a misunderstanding that initially sparked security concerns and quickly drew in various agencies -- the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The three men faced charges. They were released from Dade County Jail at 10:30 this morning and after appearing in bond court this morning, the charges were dropped.

Al Hadad had been charged with resisting an officer without violence to his person.

Also charged were 24-year-old Hussain al Hadad and 20-year-old Hassan el Sayed. Al Hadad had been charged with resisting an officer without violence to his person and with trespassing. El Sayed had been charged with trespassing."

12. Freakers are saying it's Pelosi's fault
Just thought you'd like to know. In only two days, the Dems have already made us less safe.

I'm getting cynical as I get older, but I'm beginning to think some of those wing-nuts that listen to Rush and Hannity and Coulter and the guy who called for assassinations of member's of Congress are starting to crack.

We need to do something to stop the vitriol on the right, or someone is going to get hurt. Already happened once with Oklahoma City. How many times does someone have to hear Hannity say that Nancy Pelosi is a threat to the security of the nation, before some wing-nut begins to believe it?

16. Officials: No explosives were in package at Port of Miami
By KELLI KENNEDY
Associated Press Writer

MIAMI - The Port of Miami was hit by its second terrorism scare in two days Monday when a package that was to be loaded onto a cruise ship tested positive for plastic explosives. Authorities later determined it was harmless.

A Miami-Dade County police bomb squad destroyed the box and then checked it, said Zach Mann, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman. The box held sprinkler parts, which contained a substance that "closely resembles" the military-grade explosive known as C4, said police spokesman Bobby Williams.

The package was initially tested six times by explosives detection equipment and each time it came back positive for C4, said Coast Guard Petty Officer James Judge.

Williams said the explosives detection instruments sometimes give out a false positive.
