Union not satisfied with DNC decision
By Chris Osher
Denver Post Staff Writer

At least one official with the stagehand union seemed upset about the announcement that Denver had won the Democratic National Convention, and said he wasn't aware of any deal that allayed the union's concerns about the use of the Pepsi Center.

"The union has grave reservations," said Dave Minshall, who handles public relations for the stagehands. "I mean the Democrats ought to act like Democrats.

1. I hadn't realized that.
Still, Denver was the ideal location. Maybe they can use this to highlight the problem with Wal-Mart?

2. Hmm.
The unions needs to calm down. All the details will be worked out in time for the COnvention in September of '08 (or was it October?)

3. Colorado has never been big on unions
which kind of sucks... I was a union member for 20 years -

but, if the stagehand union doesn't work this out, or worse - goes on strike during the convention - they will set back the cause of unions in this state, perhaps in a way that can't be repaired.

4. I just read on the AP that another union will work the convention.
The stagehands are out and the Pepsi center will have union workers for the first time. A very good compromise!

5. Who is the president and the BA...
Of the Denver local? Could they have political affiliations that would lead them to want to use this to attempt to embarass the Dems?
