How many times have we seen " the hand writing on the wall " and let ourselves be told " it's not what it seems to be "

Bush has Iran directly in his sites, and I don't think the rest of the world is going to sit by this time.....

:hi: I hope you'll come vote for me Sunday.

12. Could be a deal w/ the Turks
They let Bush use the bases to hit Iran, in return they get to anihilate the Iraqi Kurds.
Like I said...I don't think China or Russia will take kindly to this. :evilfrown:

28. They don't need to.
It will take many years to replenish what has been expended in Iraq an Afghanistan. If you are going to spent the money to replace the spent munitions it makes economic and strategic sense to buy next generation stuff.

No Democrat or Republican is going to neglect our already dangerously degraded military. The days of the blank check and shoddy equipment is over but the military contractors are going to be okay. You will not see stock values drop anytime soon regardless of what Chimpy decides to do.

13. An article with a little more info
The article at the below link mentions which F-16 squadron just went to Incirlik, the 22nd FS out of Spangdahlem in Germany. The article makes it out to be pretty routine. (You gotta scroll past the ads)

http://www.f-16.net/news_article2128.html

My son happens to be a member of the 22nd. Of course, he would never tell me anything about operational plans, but these guys go all over the place for training missions. In 2 years he's been on TDY for training in Romania, Cape Verde Islands, Alaska, Israel and last fall was already in Turkey at a different base. Normally this is not necessarily anything to get excited about, but after the speech the other night you can't be 100% sure.

15. Another story
A little more info about the F-16's at Incirlik. It does look like this base will be ready for most anything.

16. I don't understand Turkey. The Turkish would let the Americans
move their war equipment through their country when we were invading Iraq, but they'll let us have F 16's in their country?

17. Turks long time allies
The Turks have been allies of ours for decades, having become a full member of NATO in 1952. It ias no surprise that we have permission to bring in most any aircraft. We have had several bases there since during the cold war.

20. RE: Being a NATO member didn't mean ...
It wasn't a NATO action. We used bases in Turkey for all kinds of purposes for years after the first Gulf War. There was much greater international support in general for those earlier actions including enforcing the no-fly zones with planes based in Turkey.

You sound like you are disappointed that the Turks aren't a member of the so-called "Coalition of the Willing". The gang in DC tried like mad to coerce them into helping us in 2003 and going against their own self interest. The 4th ID was on its way to Turkey and ended up floating around aimlessly before heading to Kuwait and being delayed. An additional division in place might have helped stop some of the looting and violence in Iraq after we reached Baghdad, but of course the neocons couldn't wait to get started with the invasion. The lack of cooperation from the Turks was never the reason we are in such a mess.

19. It may be time for the U.S. to double cross the Kurds
Turkey has a large Kurdish minority, so it wouldn't mind seeing the U.S. slap down their most recent "Iraqi allies".

21. So my question is do they plan to wipe out the entire Iranian`
population? Because if they take out the leader and a few "suspected" nuclear sites...the majority of the nation which doesn't necessarily support the Iranian President will become extremely Nationalistic...and will pick up arms...the Iranian Hostage crisis and that time period will pale in comparison to what will happen...

We have to stop this madness...

22. US is going to support an airstrike by Israel on Iran!!!
Israeli planes will need refueling and AWACS support. Our F-16s will protect the tankers and the AWACS.

No one will be fooled by our claims of innocence!
