LEESBURG, Va., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Landmark Legal
Foundation today nominated nationally syndicated radio talk show host Rush
Limbaugh for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

Text of letter

February 1, 2007
Professor Ole Danbolt Mjos
Chairman,
Norwegian Nobel Institute
Henrik Ibsens Gate 51
NO-0255
Oslo, Norway

Dear Dr. Mjos:
Landmark Legal Foundation herewith submits the name of Rush Limbaugh as an unsolicited nomination for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

We are offering this nomination for Mr. Limbaugh's nearly two decades
of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all
mankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin.

We fervently believe that these are the only real cornerstones of just and lasting peace throughout the world.

Rush Limbaugh is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host in the
United States and one of the most popular broadcasters in the world. His
daily radio show is heard on more than 600 radio stations in the United
States and around the world. For 18 years he has used his show to become
the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world today.
Everyday he gives voice to the values of democratic governance, individual opportunity and the just, equal application of the rule of law -- and it is fitting the Nobel Committee recognize the power of these ideals to build a truly peaceful world for future generations.

Thank you for your thoughtful and serious consideration of this
nomination. Should you require additional information, please don't
hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,

Mark R. Levin
President

61. He's not joking...
But he's not really serious other. He knows his "nomination" is meaningless. Anyone could write such a letter. IMHO they're trying to accomplish one (or both) of two things:

  1. They want to be able to publicize Rush as a Nobel nominee.
  2. (more likely) They want to cheapen Nobel nominations in the public mind. They want us all to start talking about how meaningless this nomination is so that when some lefty commie liberal is nominated they can then point to how all the liberals had previously said that nominations are worthless.

These people are scum. They are doing their damnedest to cheapen in people's minds everything of real value - science, education, peace prizes - so that they can then push their values as being on an equal footing.

38. Levin also runs (or ran) townhall - an umbrella website for all the
conservative and religious groups.

He was on television several times a week during the Clinton character assassination and impeachment war. He is a smart aleck, mean-spirited, fast talking lawyer who speaks with as vicous scorn - and he does it on behalf or Mellon-Scaife, the Rutherford Institute, and all the biggies that fund right wing tricks.

If there are people hear who have not heard of him (he doesn't seem to appear like he did in the 90's - or maybe i'm not watching the programs that would host him) - and - if you can't bear to listen to or watch Matalin or Ann Coulter - you're not going to like listening to him. Mark (know it all) Levin.

If it is, a think DUers should type out a letter to the same person, giving reasons why Rush Limpballs is NOT eligible for this recognition, put a stamp on it and send it.

The glaring errors of Rush promoting liberty, equality, and opportunity for all are only the tip of the iceberg.

We cannot just allow this to happen. If ever there were a person who represented discrimination and unequality, it's Limpballs.

We need to make sure they see the video of Rush mocking Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's as well. Now that's certainly worthy of recognition. :eyes:

50. Not by just anyone
You have to be a national legislator, professor of law, social sciences or similar, or a previous winner.

http://nobelprize.org/nomination/peace/nominators.html

This 'foundation' doesn't appear to have any professors on it (and what professor wouldn't be a laughing stock, professionally, for nominating Limbaugh?) so this is just a PR stunt by the foundation, and possibly Limbaugh. It certainly reads like something cooked up over several drinks - or prescription drugs.

very few people actually have the ability to nominate anyone, and the Nobel committee keeps those nominations secret for 50 years.

so this group can "nominate" all they want, but the Nobel committee wont accept it.

With the sort of interlocking corruption that is the fabric of this fuc*ed up country, it may well happen.

Tucker Carlson was attempting to get someone to assassinate John Kerry, earlier, and he's still spouting shit instead of getting a striped suntan. White is black and up is down. 1984 must was instruction manual instead of fictional future history.

27. Nobel folks never annouce who was nominated until 50 years afterwards
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_Prize#Process_of_nomination_and_selection

Unlike many other awards, the names of those nominated for a Nobel Prize are never publicly announced and they are never meant to learn that they were considered for the Prize. Nomination records are sealed for fifty years. In practice, some nominees become known, or are claimed by publicists, especially in literature where there is an economic incentive.

If there is such a prize, it's the Equine Posterior Award, not the Nobel Peace Prize.

This is merely a press release and is specious on its face.

"Landmark Legal Foundation herewith submits the name of Rush Limbaugh as an unsolicited nomination for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize."

Nominations can only be made by individuals, governments, and institutions invited to do so by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. The Committee keeps the nominations secret and asks that nominators do the same.

In other words, this is BS of the most egregious type.

58. After sending this out to an email list
of people I thought were wingnuts, it turns out that not all of them are.

I follow up today with:

Hi All,

I’ve gotten a couple of comments on yesterday’s message and further research has revealed:

There is talk of Al Gore being nominated for a Nobel Prize because of his work in Global Warming and Climate Change and that this motivated the Rush Limbaugh nomination.

The prnewswire people are paid for announcements such as this. You can send a letter to the Pope nominating a serial rapist for Sainthood and for a fee; these people will put it out as news.

The Landmark Legal Foundation is not listed as an organization qualified by the Nobel concern to make nominations; therefore this letter probably went straight into the trash bin. Limbaugh’s position as a director makes the nomination a blatant conflict of interest as well.

Nonetheless Rush Limbaugh can now tell his “Dittoheads” he was nominated for the Nobel and simply neglect to mention that the nomination has no validity.

Enjoy the day!

65. He is so pro war, how does he rate a peace prize?

He has bashed Dems on Iraq since before it started. He said it would be over in 2 weeks. It goes on and on. He doesn't want peace, he just wants Reps in control. Why not give him a war prize?
