Hoekstra: Debate threat of radical, militant Islam

<snip>

Hoekstra has sent out what he calls a “Dear Colleague” letter explaining his opposition to the resolution, has spent about six hours the past two days listening to floor debate on the resolution, and gave a floor speech explaining his position. That floor speech was the topic of a column by a writer on the Wall Street Journal op-ed page today, he said.

Because he has become a more senior member of the House and is the ranking Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee, Hoekstra said colleagues ask him his opinion.

...

He believes his colleagues are missing the real debate — something he also has said the administration has missed.

“It doesn’t identify the target. It doesn’t identify that we are in a war with radical, militant Islam,” he said. “Iraq is just one part of that war. The resolution doesn’t acknowledge that.”

...

“I’m not crazy about the president’s plan, but what is your alternative? It doesn’t put anybody on record with what the alternative is,” he said.

2. And also fear-monger with pushing that good ole GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR.
:eyes: Anything to keep our stock investments (Corporations that are part of the Military Industrial Complex) to go every higher.

Far to many Republican Representatives (and sadly some Democratic Reps) know that PERPETUAL WAR is good for their personal wealth building within the stock market. :P

3. THE TARGET??? Wait just one second. bush was authorized to get Saddam out (he's dead) and eliminate
the threat of WMDs (they never existed.)

bushco has morphed this war's purpose into a war on terror. THAT's the problem. Their "war on terror" mentality of "fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here" has made EVERYONE less safe and has put a stress on our nation and damaged our reputation to such an extent that we may never recover!

bush was NEVER authorized to engage in a war against radical militant Islam. NEVER NEVER NEVER.
