Report details expenses of National Guard soldiers on border
TUCSON, Ariz. The Army National Guard spent at least nine (m) million dollars in six months last year on food and lodging for troops deployed to Arizona.
That figure is according to military records provided in response to a public records request.

While some of the money was spent on temporary lodging and lower-end places such as Motel Six, the money was also spent at posh digs in Tucson's Foothills like Loews Ventana Canyon Resort and the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa.

U-S Representative Raul Grijalva ... says troops staying at upscale resorts and hotels far from the locations they would serve only underscores the failures of the deployment and a lack of planning ...

1. Um...if border security is so essential why doesn't the US
build military bases on the border so they can readily deploy troops as necessary. The bases have their own mess halls and facilities...the troops are protected..

Oh I remember because we are building 8-10 military permanent bases in Iraq....

Nine Million dollars could have been used wisely.

2. What's wrong with tents?
Or large temporary shelters that can easily be built and torn down if needed.

3. That would work too...anything other than what they are doing now?
