Denmark may announce Iraq withdrawal plan
COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Denmark was expected to announce plans to begin withdrawing its troops from Iraq at a news conference on Wednesday, Danish media reported.

Wednesday's news conference in Copenhagen was expected to coincide with a British announcement of a new timetable for the withdrawal of that country's troops from Iraq, the TV2 news channel reported.

The 460-strong Danish contingent serves under British command in the southern Iraqi city of Basra.

1. To flee, or not to flee--
that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The roadside bombs of outraged Iraqis
Or to haul ass out of this sea of troubles
And by dodging end them.

6. That's great!

I am shocked--shocked, that Denmark of all places had any troops over there in the first place.

7. As a person of Danish extraction, I must say
that the Danish commitment of troops to that stupid mess has pissed me off for years. I thought the folks back home had better sense.

2. Wouldn't surprise me..
Since we're pretty much piggy-backing on the UK forces, our troops will be pretty much stranded once they (the UK forces) pack up & leave. Not to mention that it makes for a great excuse to get out of this war, in time to save some face for the next round of elections.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (CNN) -- Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen has announced his country will withdraw some or all of its troops from Iraq by August, the Danish Defense Ministry confirmed to CNN.

Denmark has about 470 soldiers in Iraq, serving under British command.

The announcement comes as British Prime Minister Tony Blair announced that he also plans to reduce the number of British troops serving in southern Iraq by the end of the year.
