House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's older brother, Franklin Roosevelt D'Alesandro, has died, a spokesman for the congresswoman said Wednesday. He was 73.

D'Alesandro, who lived in Baltimore, died late Tuesday or early Wednesday, said Drew Hammill, a Pelosi spokesman.

Known as "Roosie," D'Alesandro also was the brother of former Baltimore Mayor Thomas D'Alesandro III and the son of the late Thomas D'Alesandro Jr., who served as Baltimore mayor and Maryland congressman.

"Roosie died as he had lived, surrounded by his family, loved by his friends, grateful for God's blessings on his life, and prepared to meet our parents and brothers in Heaven," said Pelosi, D-Calif.

3. Her father was a loyal Dem from way nack when
Judging by the fact that he named one of his sons after FDR.
