Afghan children rush Canadian soldier-Santas

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN - Hundreds of impoverished Afghan families rushed Canadian soldiers as they delivered Christmas boxes to some of the poorest people in the country.

The Calgary-based Samaritan's Purse sent thousands of the shoebox-sized gift boxes filled with toys, toothpaste, shampoo, soap and other toiletries.

Donna Mae Krahn, a worker with the organization, says the children need to know the world hasn't forgotten about them.

One woman in the camp said she would give a toy to each of her children, but would have to sell the rest in Kabul to buy food.
