Lieberman gives weekly Democratic speech
WASHINGTON Senator Joe Lieberman is calling for improved care for wounded U-S troops who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In this weekend's Democratic radio address, already recorded, the Connecticut independent says "soldiers with brain injuries have gone weeks without being able to get doctor's appointments." And he says, "There is not enough staff with the right skills to treat and care for the severely injured troops." Also, Lieberman says "rooms where some soldiers lived were found to be moldy and infested with rodents."

Was no Democrat available for the radio address? :argh:

New Orleans Survivor Council Turns to Venezuela for Support
Posted by ProudDad on Fri Mar-02-07 10:03 PM

At least there's one government in the world that folks can turn to for help:

http://www.peoplesorganizing.org/breaking_news.html#nos

"The events of the past year have caused us to re-evaluate the
direction of the progressive and revolutionary movement. We noticed
that those left in New Orleans to drown were the poorest and
darkest-skinned people of the city. Looking around the world, we see
that the most oppressed and cast-aside peoples are those with darker
skin. We are looking deeply at this intersection of skin color and
poverty and asking everyone to do the same. We are committed to
building an egalitarian society. We have concluded that the only way
to accomplish this is to look to those very people who have been
relegated to the bottom of society's heap for leadership. We call this bottom-up leadership.

Our people have also been deserted by most members of the progressive
community at home. We know that everyone comes to you for help; the
Harry Belafontes, the Danny Glovers, and the very organizations that
we helped to start and that later deserted us: they have all come to
you. Often, their talk is of oil money. Our appeal to you is something quite different. We think the most exciting thing happening in your country is the communal council movement, and that is why we are here."

26. How do you think the selection is made?
We can assume the Party leadership controls who speaks for it.

This is just to spit in the face of Democrats. The Democratic Party doesn't give a flying fuck what Democrats think.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

He's been involved in a lot of stuff like the Patriot Act, and he can always threaten to change parties if he doesn't like a particular investigation. Are there any repubs out there who would consider flipping under those circumstances?

Lieberman is against the Dems and the GOP uses that. Lieberman most certainly does not stand against Republican corruption, wherever did you get that idea? It is laughably absurd. No one, not Bush, not Lieberman, not a real Democrat anywhere think, or even pretends to think, it is a possibility.

51. Lieberman needs to sacrifice his kids to this war that he loves so much
If Lieberman is really a moral person, he would sacrifice his kids to the US military and make sure they get sent to that hellhole he helped create in Iraq. And if his kids ended up at Walter Reed, a privatized hospital, then maybe he would spearhead real action to resolve this problem instead of sucking up to Bush all the time.

55. What is this weekly Dem radio speech?
Does a different person do it each week? If so, then it may not be too bad to have Lieberman do it one week - just as long as Bernie Sanders gets a turn as well.

Do the Republicans also have a weekly radio speech? I can imagine what it would sound like: "We must all be godly and come together around our great leader Bush and patriotically relinquish all our freedoms, because otherwise we'll be blown up by those evil terrorists who hate us for their freedoms!"
