Bombs kill 9 U.S. soldiers in Iraq 7 minutes ago

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Nine U.S. soldiers died in two separate incidents north of Baghdad, the military said Tuesday.

Six soldiers were killed when a bomb exploded near their vehicles during a combat operation Monday in Salahuddin province, the military said in a statement.

Three other soldiers were wounded and transported to an American military hospital for treatment, it said.

In another incident the same day, three more soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in Diyala province, another statement said. One soldier was wounded.

4. It was clearly Hillary's fault
By speaking in that faux Southern drawl, thus demoralizing our troops and helping fund the terrorists.

18. Really?
And you know this how?

Do you distinguish between the resistance to our occupation of Iraq and the international terrorist gang al qaeda, or are they all the same?

The surge is working? By what metrics? Are there even any metrics? How would we know if this supposed surge is working or failing or doing nothing at all?

America did its part? Great news! So we can pack up and leave then, especially as "it's up to the Iraqis now", right?

Edited on Tue Mar-06-07 08:31 AM by frogcycle
also a helo, but this may be the most in one IED. I think I recall five one time. Also three wounded were evacuated; they may survive, but the six could go up.

The nine killed yesterday brings March to twenty killed in five days, making it project to 124 total, which would be the third-worst of the entire war.

Fallen

11. requiescat in pace
Taps

Fading light, dims the sight;
And a star, gems the sky, gleaming bright;
From afar, drawing nigh;
Falls the night...

Day is done, gone the sun;
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
All is well, safely rest;
God is nigh...

Then goodnight, peaceful night;
Till the light, of the dawn, shineth bright;
God is near, do not fear;
Friend, goodnight...

19. This is NOT working ...
Hey! Where are our briefings promised by "The Wonder Boy" General (recently promoted from one to three stars), General Peaches BetrayUs?

Do we really have to tolerate our vacillating Democratic Leadership DOING NEXT TO NOTHING to preventing the fully realization of this blood bath termed "The Surge" to play itself out?

Dammit Congress, do something, anything ... I don't care if it's unsuccessful, our Democratic Representatives must TRY LIKE HELL to redeploy our troops a.s.a.p.

FUBAR and Cluster F**k, roger!

:wtf: is wrong with our Democratic Leadership when we need them the most?!?

and no Plan B - just more of Plan A - because to plan to have a back-up is to plan to fail in this mal-administration's warped and twisted and stupid and craven mind.

Welcome to the surge that follows the surge.

RIP soldiers.

26. All we've been hearing is how the surge seems to be working
Saw Brian Williams, embedded, saying how surprised they were at how quickly they had taken control of some Baghdad neighborhoods. It would be nice if this were a sign that the surge is going to work some magic. But it ignores the possibility that the insurgents either go underground and wait, or they go somewhere else. They didn't line up to be shot when we originally invaded Baghdad, I don't know why anyone would expect them to now. I still think this is about buying time for the oil PSAs. Doesn't matter how much blood gets spilled as long as the ink dries on the right contract.

the surge is working, and maybe it is. We send more soldiers into the meatgrinder - stands to reason more of them don't make it out alive.

30. Horrible
For what?
Not a goddamed thing.

Dead and dying soldiers, shitty and/or cumbersome VA health care system, poorly treated PTSD, on and on and on.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

No wonder people came up with the concept of hell. This entire administration would have a special section.
