Bush 'sad' about Libby's conviction

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush said Wednesday he is "sad" about the conviction of former vice presidential Chief of Staff Lewis "Scooter" Libby on charges of lying and impeding a CIA leak investigation, but he said the decision must be respected.

"This was a lengthy trial on a serious matter and a jury of his peers convicted him and we've got to respect that conviction," the president said in an interview with CNN en Espanol correspondent Juan Carlos Lopez.

But the president wouldn't respond directly when asked if the conviction breaks his promise to bring honor back to the White House.

"This is an ongoing legal matter ... at this time it's inappropriate for me or the administration to be issuing comments on this serious matter," Bush said.

1. Doesn't effect Bush
so he won't do anything about it. He's counting on Libby to not squeal.

4. according to Libby's defence, Scooter was a victim of an NBC Conspiracy
and a fall guy for Karl Rove, and he had a crappy memory. Whatever strands of half cooked spaghetti they could throw against the wall I guess.

Oh, and Libby was like a little baby that Daddy Ted Wells had to protect -- bursting into tears ""He is a good person. He has been under my protection for a month. I give him to you. Give him back to me. Give him back to me.""

5. If I was Libby (or Mrs. Libby) I wouldn't count on it
Seems to me like Bush Boy and Turd Blossom are tiring of Dick Cheney and pretty much ready to throw him under the bus.

10. I hope you're right
because that would probably be an end to all of them. Dicky IMO isn't a loyal person, it's all about me, me, me....and $, $, $!

11. Cheney is what stands between Bush and impeachment. Nobody wants president Cheney sworn in.
Bush knows this and, as such, he will not get rid of him for any reason.

is he sad about the unknown peril that he put her contacts in?

12. I would imagine he's just damn glad it's over ...
... and he or Uncle Dick didn't have to take the stand.

They probably are against Scooty Scoot seeking a new trial, too, for that very reason.

13. Ongoing Legal Matter? Hello! Libby was CONVICTED!
I have always thought that when the accused was convicted of a crime, in this case a felony, the case was no longer an ongoing legal matter, but a convicted felon! Is Bus@ trying to say that Republicans are different than ordinary folks? I believe there are lot's of people in this country wondering that! Believe you and me, if Joe baker and Sally at the Dairy Queen did a crime like this in war-time, they'd be shot by now!

14. they will appeal of course, they will find something
like him being convicted by 11 jurors instead of 12 jurors of his peers.
