Or are they such incompetent idiots who really don't research anything to even the slightest extent? I know that "gay porn star" is not exactly something that you would find on someone's resume, but it sounds like he was a prolific enough performer that plenty of gay men would recognize him from at least one porno they'd seen.

I would then ask why he hasn't now been kicked out (yet), though this only came up--and he only came out--last week, so that's probably just a matter of time.

Perhaps they're so desperate for new recruits that they'll admit anyone who passes the basic requirements and boot camp, and don't bother doing any sort of background check unless the recruit needs a security clearance (the infiltration of the military by neo-nazi groups has been pretty well-established, and although they're supposed to be kicked out just like gays, the Army and Marines need as many people as they can get, so they ignore it). Or rather, they wouldn't bother initiating anything until there was something to get the ball rolling; ie. a need for a security clearance, accusations of being gay, etc.

Also, in a situation like this, if Sanchez weren't actively going around gay bars, etc., giving the other members of the unit suspicions, I think the only way anyone would really recognize him is if he'd seen one of Sanchez' movies... which would put the accuser in a rather awkward situation, too, wouldn't it? ;-)

I said the other day I thought CPAC organizers would be justified in being embarrassed if the rumors about Sanchez's porn star past 15 years ago turned out to be true. Well, the rumors are true. But it is neither CPAC nor Cpl. Sanchez who should feel embarrassed.
