WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Yemeni man being held at a U.S. military prison in Cuba for al Qaeda and Taliban suspects has been provided with a military lawyer, the second of hundreds of detainees at the base to receive defense counsel, the Pentagon said on Thursday.

Salim Ahmen Hamdan is expected to meet with the lawyer, Navy Lt. Cmdr. Charles Swift at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay "in the near future," the Defense Department said in a statement

1. 9th Circuit
Just another decision by the 9th Circuit that will be overturned somewhere else.
They are not the most over-turned Court in the country for nothing.

3. Yeah, they handle more cases
They also have more cases that are upheld. Turns out the reason they have more cases overturned is because they *handle*more*cases*. Their _rate_ of being overturned is actually pretty good.

5. I'd love to see that stat.
I'd love to be able to site that. Do you have any links?

Someone else posted numbers a while ago that showed that even with the bigger case load they still get overturned a greater percentage of the time. It would be great if your numbers show that this isn't true.

6. Sorry, unfortunately I can't find it.
I was told that by someone I consider both knowledgable and trustworthy, but after some googling I am unable to back it up. I was also unable to see the numbers showing how many were overturned, or how many cases were taken. That info doesn't seem easy to access.

There's been lots of ink expended on this topic, and you can find it if you Google it right.

4. Unfortunately, that's probably true.
They seem to be the Cassandra's of the US Courts, destined to be correct but disbelieved and villified for it.
