Senate Democrats look to push Iraq debate

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrats will try to get senators on record Wednesday on whether President Bush should pull U.S. combat troops out of Iraq.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid scheduled a test vote Wednesday on the war, one that may succeed in allowing debate to begin. Debate has been stalled since January because of a disagreement between the two parties on how many and what types of amendments should be allowed.

The vote would be the third time this year that Democrats have tried to start the Senate's first formal debate on the war since the party took control of the chamber in January.

"Agreeing to a debate is not enough," said Reid, D-Nevada. "Republicans must heed the voices of their constituents and the overwhelming majority of Americans and vote to change the president's flawed Iraq policy."

they won't stop the war by cutting off funding,IMHO it would not have stopped the war the cons would have continued it anyway with the soldiers going without food, ammo, or what ever else because 1 they don't care about the soldiers and 2 it might make the Dems "look" bad and that is way more important to them then soldiers lives.

and yes, I hope they get to have the formal debate as well. I heard there are 'rumors' going around that the troops are being told Democrats are cutting funds for their food. If it's true that they are being told this, it's a :wtf: ?
