FREE TRADE MEETING
Judge: I saw police commit felonies
A judge who said he witnessed some of the anti-free trade protests complains in open court about how police handled the demonstrations.
By AMY DRISCOLL

A judge presiding over the cases of free trade protesters said in court that he saw ''no less than 20 felonies committed by police officers'' during the November demonstrations, adding to a chorus of complaints about police conduct.

Judge Richard Margolius, 60, made the remarks in open court last week, saying he was taken aback by what he witnessed while attending the protests.

''I probably would have been arrested myself if it had not been for a police officer who recognized me,'' said the judge, who wears his hair in a graying ponytail.""

2. Kick
It will be a wonderful day when we again can put our faith and confidence in our police force. Until then, it will take a weeding-out process to make it clean again. I harold this judge for doing the right thing.

3. Yes and I hope he testifies in the Civil Rights cases being brought.
As a judge he knows felonious behavior when he sees it and would make a powerful witness.

4. Those hearings will be coming up Januaray 15th, according to the article
I'm hoping, too, that he'll be available, and un-bombed, un-shot enough to testify. Miami has a history of bombing the holy bejeezus out of political opponents, at least since the 1970's onward.

(snip) During the Dec. 11 hearings, the judge asked an assistant state attorney, ``How many police officers have been charged by the State Attorney so far for what happened out there during the FTAA?''

None, the prosecutor replied.

''None?'' asked the judge. ``Pretty sad commentary. At least from what I saw.''

The ranks of true patriots are swelling in America. Keep hammering away at the neo-con lies and propaganda machines, evil DUers! There is something afoot out there with more and more of the people. Maybe there is hope for the nation.

edit: typo queen stuff

8. Yes I think there is hope.
As Edmund Burke said: "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle." This is what we see happening, an association of the good to combat the aggregation of evil.

10. I was thinking the very same thing
it seems as though some judges making headlines are remembering we have a constitution and why it was enacted and what it stands for.

Wouldn't that have been a hoot had that cop not recognized this judge and had actually arrested him on some bogus charge? Geebus.

7. Speak the truth, Judge Margolius!
The regime has begun to piss off the wrong people. I hope this snowballs, and other people of courage start speaking up.

Miami judge questions police action at free trade demonstrations
Associated Press

MIAMI - A judge presiding over the cases of several protesters arrested during free trade talks last month said he saw at least "20 felonies committed by police officers" during the summit and called their actions "a disgrace for the community."

Circuit Judge Richard Margolius, 60, said in court he was surprised by what he saw at downtown Miami demonstrations during the Free Trade Area of the Americas summit in November.

"Pretty disgraceful what I saw with my own eyes. And I have always supported the police during my entire career," he said, according to a court transcript from the Dec. 11 hearing. "This was a real eye-opener. A disgrace for the community."

Margolius said he saw "no less than 20 felonies committed by police officers" during the weeklong events, though he didn't provide details. He also declined to single out departments from the more than three dozen agencies providing security.

Now that takes real character, in South Florida. It's not going to be easy for him for a while.

14. Won't this get the judge in trouble?
Don't mean to rain on the parade, but if the judge was a protester at the same protest the accused were attending, doesn't this qualify as a significant enough bias that he should have recused himself?

18. I STILL wanna know:
How did $8.7 Million dollars get sliced off the $87Billion dollars that congress approved to fight terrorism? This $8.7 Million was then given to Jeb bush* to suppress dissent at the Free Trade talks in Miami. It is evident that bush* and the republicans view dissent, peaceful protest, and criticism of the Rich Corporate Elite as terrorism!

Meet the New Boss

Same as the Old Boss

I wonder if the New SS know for whom they are fighting? Most of these guys are lower middle class union slaves that are viewed with contempt by the Ruling Elite. These guys dressed up in their new SS uniforms and took to the streets to intimidate the people who were fighting for their rights to a earn a living wage. They New SS were protecting 34 VERY WEALTHY INTERNATIONAL ELITES that operate OUTSIDE ANY National oversight.
