Cryptic thank-you note may link Rove to US Attorney scandal
Source: Raw Story

A previously overlooked e-mail from the Department of Justice document dump may turn out to be a smoking gun, of sorts, that links White House Adviser Karl Rove to the US Attorney firing scandal, reports Newsweek.

"New Mexico Republican Sen. Pete Domenici's chief of staff sent a cryptic thank-you note to Karl Rove just as the senator was recommending replacements for David Iglesias, the fired U.S. attorney in New Mexico, according to internal White House and Justice Department documents," writes Michael Isikoff.

"Thanks for everything," read the e-mail, dated January 8th, 2007, which included the name of a replacement candidate for Iglesias' position.

The email, which was sent to Rove and two other White House officials, may have been initially overlooked because it was sent to a more obscure e-mail account of Rove's.

3. Of course Rove is involved...

... dig for more & there 'will' be more clues to lies, cover-up & illegal activity - It's the Bush Way, otherwise the Patriot Act would not have been such an 'issue' for permanent passage after the last election moved to Democrat control - I don't believe in coincidence.

9. Right you are. But please: "Democratic" control, not "Democrat" control.
Arrgh. They've got us saying it now. ;) :hi:

Karl is very careful not to leave his fingerprints at the scene of the crime. But all the threads of corruption will lead back to him and/or Dick.

17. I'm Confused???
Democrat (Noun) - 1. An advocate of democracy.
Democratic (Adj) - 1. Of, characterized by, or advocating democracy.

I thought my usage was as a noun in my sentence, but I guess 'control' was the noun, and 'democrat' was actually a noun modifier and should have been as you suggested, 'democratic'. Thank you Sister Ed! (straight from the horses mouth) :sarcasm:

Personally, you can call me anything you like as long as you don't call me late for supper.

18. Actually not a grammar issue, but a framing issue
For a few years now, neocons have been using "Democrat" in place of "Democratic" as a sort of subtle, sneaky, backhanded slur. It's deliberate on their part. You'll hear Rush Limbaugh railing about "the Democrat Party", and even Bush, at the State of the Union address, offering his smirking congratulations to the new "Democrat majority".

It's important not to adopt their framing. That's why some folks around DU will correct you if you make this slip, or if you refer to election theft as "voter fraud".

:hi:

19. Harry Truman
... my framing came from my parents who were FDR & especially Harry Truman Democrats (being from Missoura), which is most likely where Rush Bimbo got his framing too. In my experience, when it 'bothers' you, you loose? And when someone corrects your grammar, they are usually just playing 'one up-men-ship' word games? I am a Democrat, a 'Harry Truman' Democrat & since Bimbo & company are non-vet pukes anyway - Who gives a rats ass?

:pals: These comments are not about you, but bad human behavior that piss off old men :patriot:

8. oh yeah!
right on! rec #7, a great thread on this is in the other main forum... both should have many rec's as this is a HUGE story.

"the problem we have with Carol Lam"... yeah, that she's onto the white house lying giving money through a no bid contract that was funneled into buying a boat for the Duke-stir! (stir? why not the normal Dukester? oh that's right, because Duke was the stirring element that made things happen. Oh I don't know, it sounds good, or he's just an IDIOT)

12. No Comment!
The greatness of this story "Buried in Justice Department documents released two weeks ago, the Bell e-mail was not initially noticed by congressional investigators because it was sent to Rove’s political e-mail account—not his more clearly recognizable White House e-mail address." and then "We're not commenting on that" because of general White House policy not to talk about "internal White House communications."

That's funny cause if it was "internal White House communications" then it would have not been sent to an outside server!
