Helicopter shot down as Mogadishu battle rages
30 Mar 2007 12:18:33 GMT
By Sahal Abdulle

MOGADISHU, March 30 (Reuters) - Rebels shot down a helicopter gunship in Mogadishu on Friday in a second day of battles as Ethiopian and Somali forces sought to crush an insurgency by Islamists and clan militia.

At least 30 people, and probably far more, have died.

Shells rained down on the capital and deafening tank fire shattered homes, as hundreds of guerrillas replied with barrages of mortars, missiles and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).

As terrified residents hid in their homes, reporters watched from rooftops as two Ethiopian helicopters fired on an insurgent stronghold before one of them was struck by a missile or RPG.

1. Maybe we should start some more wars.
What meddling nefarious fucktards we are. Lets start more wars all over the damn planet. The three we've started so far since the cabal took over are going so well.

Somalia Battles Called Worst in 15 Years

By MOHAMED OLAD HASSAN

Associated Press Writer

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - Insurgents shot down a helicopter gunship in Somalia's
capital and mortar shells slammed into a hospital Friday in the worst fighting seen
in this beleaguered capital in more than 15 years.

Dozens of people have been killed since Thursday, when the government and allied
Ethiopian troops launched an offensive to quash an increasingly brutal insurgency by
Islamic militants. A statement from the International Committee of the Red Cross said
the people of Mogadishu are caught up in the worst fighting in more than 15 years.

More than 220 people have been wounded in the past 24 hours, most them civilians
with bullet, grenade and other shrapnel wounds, the ICRC said.

5. Was that an American gunship?
I know we are in Somalia bombing people. Do we have gunship helicopters there as well?
