Be polite to Mr Saddam [BBC reports Saddam "put on drip" (drugged?)]
although the point of this article is the laughable neutral-naming of Saddam, there's a revealing line at the end that indicates that Saddam may be drugged 24 hours a day... brainwashing by the CIA?

Be polite to Mr Saddam

By NIC CECIL
Political Correspondent

BARMY BBC bosses have banned reporters from calling tyrant Saddam Hussein a former dictator.

Instead, staff must refer to the barbaric mass murderer as “the deposed former President”.

<snip>

A spokeswoman said: “This was reiterating existing guidelines to remind BBC News Online journalists of the need to use neutral language.”

<snip>

But a BBC insider said: “This is our daftest order ever.”

Saddam has been put on a drip since his capture. Medical experts believe he became dehydrated and malnourished during his eight months on the run.

2. hmmm
well, an IV drip is just saline solution, for the "dehydrated and malnourished" part. Pretty much medically standard for anyone thats in that condition.

If they want to drug him, it just takes a little needle prick every 8 hours, doubt they'd let the media see that.

3. Another report (w/ pic)

A STARTLING new photograph of a sick-looking Saddam Hussein suggests he is being drugged or given strong medication by his US captors.

http://www.news.com.au/common/imagedata/0,3600,310072,00.jpg

The man who took the photo told The Weekend Australian last night Hussein appeared very sick when he was visited by Iraqi Governing Council member Ahmed Chalabi two days after being captured near Tikrit.

In the photo Hussein appears in much worse shape than when arrested, with pronounced bags under bloodshot eyes and a sticking plaster on the back of his right hand where he has reportedly been receiving intravenous injections.
------------

I predict he "mysteriously" dies in custody, before a trial, of course.

7. yes
Chalabi owns a newspaper.

It isn't clear whether Saddam is on a "drip" or not. The "sticking plaster" in his hand appears to be an IV line that has been started but isn't attached to anything at the moment. Just there in case it's needed.

8. probably a Luerlock access, no? Makes sense. re: Chalabi's newspaper
I didn't realize he had a media outlet. Did some searches..It's called al Mutamar, funded by US government.

see page 7 of the the Inspector General's oversight report and the budget info towards the end.

11. I don't know what the hell he's doing!
And what is he wearing? He looks like he's got his enormous underpants down around his knees. Did they photograph him on the toilet?

12. That's what I was wondering!
It looks like he's on a toilet! Oh yeah, "treated as a POW." I'm sure this will undermine all international standards of war.

4. Tell me, did Saddam look " dehydrated" or "malnurished" to you?
they have to come up with something better than this. In his capture photos, Saddam looked a hell of a lot better than the last video of him addressing the Iraqi people.
