Bush ratings show little gain from Saddam capture
Bush ratings show little gain from Saddam capture

NEW YORK (AFP) - The capture of Saddam Hussein had a minimal effect on President George W. Bush's approval ratings, which are hovering at their lowest levels since he took office in January, 2001, according to a poll.

The Harris Poll, conducted before and after the ousted Iraqi leader's capture on December 13, found only a slight improvement in the president's ratings, up from 48 percent positive, 51 percent negative, to 50 percent positive, 49 percent negative.

They were the worst monthly ratings Harris has reported for the president since the September 11 terrorist attacks of two years ago, and the highest negative ratings since he took office.

The big ratings winners from Saddam's capture were some of the senior members of Bush's cabinet.

1. Bush did not capture Saddam
Why should his ratings go anywhere? Apparently there are still some people who believe the spin. It even makes me dizzy to listen to CNN
and others trying to hold Bush up to make him look presidential.

2. Don't get your hopes up. This is from the "AFP", and I wouldn't believe
anything the French say.

3. IT ain't AFP
It's a Harris Poll.

You got a problem with them too? They're not French.

4. Is that the new GOP talking point?
If it's negative towards *, it's now from the AFP?

And why wouldn't you believe anything the French say?

They were right about Saddam not having any WMD, weren't they?
