Halliburton critic reaps campaign contribution (WAXMAN)

By Peter Kaplan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman, a relentless critic of Halliburton Corp. for its Iraq contracts, has accepted a $1,000 campaign gift from the donation arm of the company once run by Vice President Dick Cheney.

The political action committee of energy services giant Halliburton gave the money last month and the California congressman will keep it, his spokeswoman Karen Lightfoot, said Monday, without elaborating on the decision.

Take Halliburton's money and screw em with it. If they are dumn enough to think it will influence Waxman, then let them give.

4. My thoughts exactly.
I'm sure Halliburton did it just to embarasss him, or maybe because they actually believed it would influence him. But I'm with you. Keep it, and keep hammering them.

5. Waxman is an idiot to keep it.
Think back to when Enron broke. That should have been a bonanza for the Dems, who could have hammered Bush over and over again.

Then it is revealed that many Dems also received money from Enron, and what happened? Those that didn't have the balls fell silent, and those that did were marginalised becuase every time they said something about Enron the Repubs just said "You took money too!"

Waxman should have thrown it back in their face and said "I am not taking money from theives! That money belongs to the American people!"

Now, every time he mentions Halliburton, the press will remind the public that he took money from them too.

Bad move Waxman.

6. Did Condi reply to this Senators letter .
Waxman had asked her to answer several specific questions about 911. She was instructed to answer by a certain date. Never saw any follow up by the good Senator.

8. Didn't you see the memo?
Bushco announced a while ago that they will not be responding to dem inquiries. The press reported it and then, as usual, shrugged and moved on.

BTW, Waxman isn't a senator, just a representative.
