Former senator injured in mugging
Moseley Braun suffers broken wrist in attack outside Chicago home

CHICAGO - Former U.S. senator and presidential candidate Carol Moseley Braun suffered a broken wrist when a mugger tried to steal her purse, authorities said Saturday.

Braun, 59, was standing at her front door late Friday when an assailant came out of the bushes and tried to take her purse, said her spokesman, Kevin Lampe. When Braun resisted, the man pulled a knife and cut the strap of the purse.

During the struggle, Braun fell, fracturing her left wrist. She was later treated and a released from a hospital.

1. Hope she's OK
Now Limbaugh will have something to talk about next week. He's been short on material lately.

2. It would be nice to learn that she broke it delivering a
disabling karate chop to her assailant.

and that they catch the guy who did this. :grr:

I liked a number of things she said during the 2004 debates.

5. My favorite moments of hers during the 04 campaign
She was giving a speech, and she held up a piece of duck tape and said "THIS is not a substitute for diplomacy!"

It was brilliant!

6. Get well soon, Ms Braun. She's an admirable woman.
What a frightening incident -- I'm so glad she wasn't hurt worse.

7. She has been a great political presence. You may remember how hard the Republicans
have tried to run her out of politics with cheap personal attacks.

It would show you she doesn't just fold, when you realize she didn't surrender that purse!

I, like the DU'ers before this post, enjoyed her participation in the Presidential debates. She's poised and intelligent. You'd never mistake her for a Republican!

On behalf of Ambassador Carol Moseley Braun, let me thank all for the kind words.

She is grateful to Zachary Trayes-Gibson and Rachel McFadden who came to her rescue and are true heroes.
