Bush In Talks To Prevent Collapse Of Iraqi Coalition
Source: Deutsche Presse Agentur

Baghdad- US President George W Bush has talked with Iraqi
Vice President Tarek al-Hashimi on the latter's possible move to
bring his party out of the Iraqi government, the news agency Aswat
al-Iraq reported on Monday as violence - including a suicide attack
that killed 25 people at a funeral in Diyala province - continued.
In the talk which occurred via telephone Sunday evening, al-
Hashimi had said the Sunni Iraqi Islamic Party which he leads felt
"sidelined" in the cabinet.

"We're considering leaving the government because we have lost
every hope for reforms," the agency said al-Hashimi told Bush.

Al-Hashimi's office said Bush took the vice-president's concerns
seriously and invited him to Washington for further talks.

The Iraqi Islamic Party has 44 of the 275 seats in parliament and
is the most important Sunni faction in the Shiite- and Kurd-dominated
parliament.

1. Thank Jesus we have Condi Rice as Sec. of State -- someone who can
roll up her sleeves and get a negotiating environment goin'.

That Condi. Quite a gal, isn't she?

And she plays the piano, too.

5. "Heckuva job, Condi" LOL! She's ever the mystery girl.
Gauzy and vaporous. I think the average 10th grade school council rep could handle things better than Dr. Rice.

10. Good lord. I'm not sure I could either, but that's a compelling image.
Do you get the notion that Condoleeza Rice is doing exactly nothing all day long?

I mean, absolutely nothing. Maybe a little shopping, maybe a few plans for dinner engagements or something...

...but otherwise nothing at all?

And she has been very quiet all winter as the Iraq occupation falls to bits in Baghdad and the outer provinces.

4. it's just great, all the progress in democracy the Monkey King has created in Iraq. NOT
:sarcasm:

Monkey King is grabbing at straws but at least he's speaking to Iraqis other than Chalabi and al-Maliki now. King Chimp-in-Chief is somewhat late to the "get information from all sides before you act" party---it's just dawning on him to do that.

I truly think Biden's plan is the only one to help us out of Chimpie's morass.

7. If this faction leaves the gov't, it's full blown civil war for Iraq.

Better start pulling our folks out now, before the planes get too crowded.

Hey, Monkey Breath, some of us predicted civil war in Iraq before you even sent the first troops over there.

Does that mean we're smarter than you? Or do we just have the wrong investments? Maybe we should use your brokers, then we would be for the war too, no matter what the facts may be.
